Healing Insulin Resistance Insulin resistance is a key component in gaining weight and being vulnerable to diabetes. I did a whole series on this
a number of years ago, but continue to learn new information. I am reading original research articles and I was fascinated and thought you would LOVE hearing about this. You will learn what insulin resistance is, and very concrete specific things you can do and eat to reverse it. If weight loss or pre diabetes is a concern for you, this will be a great class. If you are thinking you will catch this one next time around, I
would do it now. This is the kind of class that maybe I would do every 2 years or so.

It is easy to get sucked into sugar swirl this time of year.
Focus on breakfast instead.
Well, what a difference a year and this program makes! Friday, I had my first parent-teacher conference with my 6 year old's first grade teacher. All she
could say was how wonderful Renee is, how well behaved and happy. Flash back to last year when I left the parent-teacher conference crying my eyes out, having been asked if anything was going on at home because Renee was acting out, belligerent, rude, easy to tears...
Last year I was severely depressed and stupidly thinking I was hiding it from everyone, I was thick into my sugar as was my daughter. It was last December that I found this program, last spring that I started the steps, this
past summer that I started working with my daughter. I am only on step 3 and only starting with my daughter, but LIFE is GOOD! I have no doubt this program has changed our lives for the better. My daughter is happier because I am happier and steadier - she is ss and feeds off my moods. She is steadier because her food is steadier. She used to get served cookies and punch for "snack" last year in kindergarten - I have no doubt this affected her everyday. If I knew then what I know now... A few
weeks into school Renee asked me if her days now were shorter than her school days last year. I said they were the same, she said she couldn't believe it, that last year the days seemed to last forever and now the day flies by. My dear daughter is happy and we are blessed by this program.
Thank you, Kathleen!!! Very Warmly, Cindy

Here is a post someone put on the forum about our customer service. It made me smile and certainly made David feel proud. I think the quality of our customer service reflects the commitment we both have to serving you. I know that there are some items you can get other places. When you take the time to purchase them through the store, you are making it possible for us to have our website. The store supports us
both and allows us to give you this kind of service (smile). And I think the feeling of caring goes both ways. We love you as customers, and you seem to reciprocate!! Thank you.
I just made my first order last night from the RR store. I made a comment about the shipping price. I am a spoiled amazon prime girl and I was sad the products weren't
available through amazon. This morning I got a personal call from Kathleen's son explaining everything. I was in shock! How extremely kind and considerate. I have been blown away by the business you two are running. I am so grateful for Kathleen's personal attention with my questions on the forum (something I NEVER expected), and now from her son on my purchase. As my husband said when I told him, "Mind blown." You guys could not be more
awesome!!!

Some of the old timers wanted to know where to talk about their process. They wanted to have a place to share about *refinements* and *life enhancements*. We have support for
depression and cooking and fitness, but nowhere to look at *life* stuff. The logical option is Radiant Living. It is kinda the *after the steps* place.
If you would like to join us in Radiant Living, come find us here.

Sincerity in Your Recovery
Kathleen DesMaisons, Ph.D. Have you ever wondered what it is that allows some people to flourish in doing the steps and others to struggle so much? I was thinking about this in my morning meditation. My hunch is that the ones who love the steps and bring a willingness to sincerely try have an easier time.
Many of us were called *intense* little things when we were younger...and not always in the kindest of ways. I think maybe when that energy gets reactivated in our relationship to the steps, we find it easier to commit. When in our cells we believe they will heal us, and we really want to feel better, to be healed, we simply say, 'I will do this. I will do this as directed. I will ask for help. I will listen to the ones that have gone before me. I will stop
thinking I know everything and I will just bring a kind of trust to the process.'
It's funny, but I first wrote Potatoes Not Prozac twenty years ago, and I have wondered since if things should be *updated* with what we have learned. We have worked with some adaptations along the way. I lowered the protein
levels for bigger persons, and upped it for smaller people, but the principles remain the same. I think that wheat, even whole grain wheat may not be such a good thing.
I wondered if the path of no grain, no legumes was the right one for us. And as I listened to those who went that way, I became more convinced
that it is not the best for our brains. But I have learned that the discovery of how we approach browns is a crucial part of step seven. And that the *discovery* itself strengthens our healing.
More than ever, I have come to trust the dialogue that happens on the lists. Even with Yahoo being as cumbersome as it
is, there is something magical that happens with this sharing, and having this written record of the sorting things out. Twenty years of discovery and archives is a mighty tool.
Sometimes our process is contradictory, sometimes murky, and sometimes brilliantly clear or right on target. But I KNOW that the quality of what happens in our discussion is unmatched in where it takes us. I love this community. I love what we know, how we support
one another and how we grow together. And I love that you are here and are a part of it.
