CLASSES
Return to Radiance
The class will focus on returning to radiance. It is designed for members of the community who have done the steps in the past and then slid, drifted or wandered away. It will give you an opportunity to remember, regroup, get focused, start the steps anew and be supported along the way. You will learn to understand why you *fell from grace* and be able to let go of shame and guilt. You will start to laugh again, find joy and reclaim what you know. Your cells remember and we will help you listen to them. The class is $99 for 4 weeks of interactive teaching and sharing. The class may continue if we decide together there is more to learn.

WORKING WITH KATHLEEN
I feel very strongly about offering you a way to work with me directly. I have set up a whole range of options for you to do that - going from private coaching to being involved in small groups. This link will show you all the choices.
Coaching Apprentice is open to people on steps 1-3 who are starting their program.
Coaching Skilled open to people who have mastered at least step 3 and want more guidance.
Signature Coaching is for those who want to work individually with Kathleen in a 90-day process. Signature is the top of the line. All who have done it talk about their lives being changed.
Another option is setting up a one hour assessment and then making a decision based on that conversation. And you can always call 505-345-3737 and ask me about how each one works.

"If you don't have a journal, you have no record of your process. If you don't keep a journal, your body has no way to talk with you."
A few weeks ago we had a cooler week (in the middle of summer) and I ironed the (actually very long-term) accumulated clothing from the basket. It was good to have the clothes available again, not just keeping the ironing basket feeling nice and comfy for the cat to curl up, LOL. A few items of clothing at the bottom of the pile had been there for a long time (smile). They were retired...their fabric became new rags, and their buttons got donated to the sewing room. They have done so many wearings that they don't owe us anything. I hung the clothes according to colour and item (all the shirts together as a rainbow, all the trousers, etc.). It is lovely to look at.
I had a ruthless go-through of our other clothing too, and disposed of the things that no longer fit well, some of them to the rag bag, some to the op shop, some to other family members (my daughters were drooling over a t- shirt I had loved on the hanger at the op shop, but did not look good on me).
Then followed a shopping trip, because the clothes my DH and I have worn for ever so long really are very tired and wearing out. So with an *informed* idea of what we needed (not one based on what I thought we had) we went shopping. At real shops, not just cut price and charity places. It was a little bit scary, and quite exciting! A few finds which work really well together in lots of different ways made our few purchases into quite a few wearable combinations. It was fun sorting the things, hanging them in the newly orderly wardrobe. Really nice, new clothes which fit, and suit colourwise, breathe such a feeling of 'put together'. I like it!
And, LOL, by not buying the things that did not score a 5 out of 5, this is a marvelous feeling...I saved SO much! Lots of satisfaction for a few well -chosen garments is much better value for money!

Journal time again! This is such a great support to Step 2. If you go over to the store you can also see what is inside the journal. Mom still does it, and uses the blue one. She has a hot pink tweed cover on it.

Radiant Living is geared to looking at Step 7 issues. I am in the process of the revision of Potatoes not Prozac and am adding a fair amount of information on *radiant living* which is really Step 7. This is where we are looking at a Step 7 life with all its quirks. This means feelings, healing old trauma and remodeling our bodies. We have Radiant Living Chats on Mondays.

I just want to lose weight. Is this the right place for me?
It is the best place in the world for you. Most important, we will help with what we call *fat terror* that pervades every part of who you are. I referred to fat terror in the new book. My editor asked me to define it.
Fat terror is a profound cellular fear about becoming fat, staying fat, getting fatter or always being fat. This is not about wanting to lose a few pounds or to be slimmer for the sake of vanity. It runs way deeper than that. It is about being told you are bad, inadequate, less than because of your body shape. It is about being made invisible because of your body size. Or being discounted out of hand regardless of how smart, creative or brilliant you are. When fat terror is added to an out of balance sugar sensitive body, it becomes a deadly motivator about the determinant of success. Much of what the steps do is designed to end the reign of fat terror and then unleash the creative heart before the weight loss.
I am just starting the steps. Does it make sense to join now?
Yes, it does. We have found that the people who come to chats do the best with the steps. The connection in chat is awesome. You get a chance to talk with the old timers, you can ask questions and I am right there to guide you, It really is an incredible opportunity.
We are having a great time in chat. During December we will talk about staying steady during the holidays. If you haven't come to chat, look in the YLD files for the guide to getting there. We would love to see you.
If you are not a member yet, come and join us. If you are a current member and want to join us in the new chat room, come to the landing page. We will send you the pass words after you join.

The Calm
Kathleen DesMaisons, PhD
We have been talking a lot about the time after detox. Often it feels flat because the spiky life that comes with addiction is quiet. Drama and chaos have faded. Regular life seems a little less exciting than expected.
Sometimes people are startled by this. They define it as boring.
Recently, someone named it THE CALM.
That is a wonderful image.
Seeking The CALM.
I think a lot of radiance is about fostering The CALM and then being filled with a sense of hope and optimism.
It definitely grows on you.
