Getting Started with the Program
Many people want to rush ahead and do all seven steps in 3 days. Spend a little more time. Come with a beginnner's mind, gather information, get context, and learn what others have done. Read these articles:
Background
If you are ready to start, let’s provide some specific suggestions.
If you are brand new and feeling overwhelmed, just do 3 things:
Get a copy of Potatoes Not Prozac, take the online class called Using the Resources in the Community and start eating breakfast. We have some resources for you on our breakfast page.
Once you feel a little more brave, you can progress to these 3 things:
First – Learn about the 7 Steps
You can get the books at your local bookstore, at the library or right here in our own store. The CDs are available in our store.
Second – Learn About our Resources
- Sign up for the FREE online class called Using the Resources in the Community. This will give you an overview of what is here to support you. I run this class every other week.
- Sign up for our FREE weekly newsletter to read testimonials, get recipes, learn about the community and hear Kathleen’s latest thinking on topics we all love.
- Join the FREE Community Forum, a moderated message board where folks love to share with each other. It’s available 24/7 and provides a wealth of information gained and willingly shared by people just like you. Introduce yourself, or just listen for a while. Instructions on using the forum are found in a link right at the top of the page.
- Join a FREE online group. We have a group for everyone and everything, including your pets. Go through the list and see if anything strikes your fancy. These are email lists. Each group is led by a volunteer who has been doing the program for many years. They are safe, funny and informative.
- Take a low cost online class taught by Kathleen DesMaisons herself. The classes cover both beginning and advanced topics.
Third – Come Visit the Store
In response to the requests from our members, we set up a special online store to make it really easy to find things that will support your recovery. Come look around and see if there is anything you like. Most of all, ask questions. We are here to help
