Hi {!firstname_fix}

Ok, we are getting settled in after my trip. I am looking forward to Ranch. We have a full roster and are really excited. I will be sharing my new powerpoint presentation as well as presenting some fun material. If you are coming to Ranch and are not on the ranch elist, make sure to do that so you get all the hot tips.

The classes beginning this week are:

Step One: The Art of Breakfast is for those of you just starting off. We go through a step by step guide. Simple, clear and fun. Come join us.

The Restart: Waking Up class. All rightie, this is the safety net for those of you who were on Step 7 and fell on your head. This class is not for folks who fell off step 3 (smile). That is called doing the program. Funny, but this is one of my favorite classes. Who would think that relapse would be fun! But you never know what will happen at Radiant RecoveryŽ!

And the Step Three: Three Meals class is the heart of the work. Learn how to do Step 3 in baby portions. Make it work and come have a blast. Great class, I love it.

We have posted a schedule of the classes for the next month. So you can go ahead and sign up for what you want to join.

A number of you have asked me about how the classes work. I conduct them via email through Yahoogroups, so it does not matter where you live or what time zone you are in or whether you can get to the computer at a specific time. After you register for payment, you will receive an email from me thanking you for your order. Then you will get another email with the name of the class in the subject line. Now pay attention to it, it is a critical part of your signup. Click on the link in the email that will take you to Yahoo to sign up.

Thank you for your continuing input on the classes. It is VERY helpful to me and I think it means we are creating a real resource that suits your needs. Your interests have led to the whole weight loss curriculum that will be starting soon.

Please feel free to pass this week's newsletter on to your friends and family. Don't forget to let me know what you like and would like to see me cover.

A copy of this newsletter may also be found posted on the web at http://www. radiantrecovery.com/weeklynewsletter. If you wish to unsubscribe, use the link at the bottom of the page. Do not email me, do not get mad at me, just click on the link and you will be forever removed.

And be sure to visit our Radiant RecoveryŽ website and Community Forum regularly.

Warmly,
Kathleen

Once you feel radiance, there's no going back. You may wobble, you may forget, but your cells will remember and will call you back.

** Testimonial for the Week**

Hi Friends!

Something wonderful is happening and I wanted to share it with you.

Last night I was laying in bed after a very tough, long day and I noticed that my chest felt light and my breathing felt ... well ... different. Like I was getting air all of the way in the to the bottom of my lungs without any effort. Rather hard to describe.

Today I'm at work and I feel physically **light** all over. I have no pain anywhere in my body, my head is not stuffed up, no headache. No pain in my neck or shoulders. I feel such a sense of well being in my body that I have NEVER felt before. I am almost afraid to tell you about it for fear I will jinx it and it will go away.

My body has physically hurt almost everyday for the last 13 years. I would have aches that feel like the flu that would vary in intensity from a dull ache to overwhelming pain. I always felt exhausted no matter how much sleep I got. I have hard painful bunches of muscles in my neck and shoulders. I would have frequent headaches and a stuffy nose. I learned to ignore it after a while and just keep on going. The downside that is that I learned to ignore everything my body was telling me and I became very disconnected from it. It has been a real journey for me to reconnect with my body! The journal is SO worth the effort.

I hope this is the start of the miracle and I get to feel like this alot of the time if not ALL of the time! It actually brings tears to my eyes - I have hurt SO long - this is such a miracle!!! There is just no other way to put it! And I am only on Step 3! Perhaps the more horrible you feel going into this the greater the change and the greater the miracle?!!!

Just had to tell you my wonderful news.

Diana

**Recipe of the Week**

Spinach/Artichoke Delight

Sautee garlic & butter in pot large enough to hold above ingredients for 4 minutes on medium heat. Add hot sauce, cheeses and sour cream and heat until cheeses are melted. Add spinach and artichoke hearts. Mix well.

The mixture should be creamy and well mixed. Then place in casserole and either microwave for 5 minutes or bake in 375° oven for 10 to 15 minutes.

Note: You can add a layer of cheese on the top at the end. This is great as a dip or eaten as a side dish This dish freezes really well

Enjoy!

**Your Last Diet: More Than What You Think**

Well, we have had LOTS of questions all week, but I think most of you are settled down now. The new, improved YLD is in place and we are ready to rock. The free 10-week weight loss class will start on Wednesday rather than on May 1 since I want to make sure everyone is one and settled. Go to

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/YLDweightloss/join

to join.

Make sure you join with the same email address you joined YLD with so we can find you to approve you. If you have changed emails, put that in the notes.

I know you will love it. And no, you do NOT have to be on step 7 to take any of the weight loss classes.

And in the next few weeks, I will also begin the special one week weight loss classes that will be open just for you members. Watch this section for the announcements of what we do..

I am excited. Chat was fun last week and I look forward to more soon.

For those of you who are not yet YLD members, Click here if you are ready to change your life or just plain ole have fun.

**David's Corner **

Kathleen was talking with the folks on the pregnancy and nursing list about which oils are best for them. She had a long conversation with the experts at Nordic Naturals. Then she went and read a lot of original research. The research shows that supplementing with oil increases important DHA levels. The baby's brain is made from DHA, so this is a very good thing. Infants with higher levels of DHA had more mature electroencephalogy measures. That means more mature brain function. And it seems that oil supplementation may improve intelligence. The 4 year olds whose moms took oil during pregnancy and breast feeding score *significantly* higher than children whose moms were given corn oil. Pretty amazing!

I know Kathleen is going to write about this more in depth, but I got so excited, I went ahead and got some new oils just for you. it is called ProDHA. I called it the make your baby smart oil.

Now one other new item. As you all know, Kathleen was recently up in MN and WI at a Healing the Nations Conference for Native Americans. While she was there, one of the speakers was talking about the role of the Iroquois Confederacy in shaping the makers of the constitution. She did some research on this and was amazed at learning stories we mostly never heard. She ordered a little book that some of you might like to read. It is called The Iroquois Book of Life. It's pretty interesting.

I know we have a funny assortment of books in our store, LOL. Dogs, Kindness, Native Americans and Food. Must be recovery.

Please send questions and suggestions. I love hearing from you and truly want to help you do your program better.

Thanks
David

And of course, we have something for everybody in our store

**Our Online Groups**

Radiantdownunder is a group for sugar sensitive people doing the food in Australia and New Zealand. Some of the products Americans talk about are not available down here, and we have fun "translating" the cultural differences. We occasionally manage to meet an e-friend face to face as someone travels the wide brown land or across the ditch. We had a gathering in Melbourne a few years ago to which people flew from as far away as Perth and Wellington, which was a real BE boost.

For Parents: Easing Your Family Into Change
Kathleen DesMaisons, Ph.D.

Breakfast is a great place to start when you begin changing your family's eating habits. The first thing you may have to do is get everybody in your household to agree to eat breakfast, even if it is consumed on the way to school or the office. Sandwiches and shakes make meals portable. Try getting some George's Junior. If you have any question that your kids won't like it, put it in some chocolate almond milk with some baby oatmeal. They will LOVE it.

Eggs are "the wonder food," and you can do so much with them: serve them as an omelet or simple boiled eggs, or hot in a scrambled- or fried-egg sandwich, or cold as sliced-egg or egg-salad sandwiches.

If your family eats cereal, ease them into whole-grain choices served with fresh fruit instead of coated with sugar. Use apple juice when you are cooking oatmeal, and lace it with protein powder, cream and cut-up fruit or berries.

For family members who 'don't have time' for breakfast, keep mozzarella sticks and boiled eggs in the refrigerator for them to grab on the way out the door. Get them to put together peanut butter sandwiches on whole grain bread the night before, or have George's Junior Shake ready in the blender.

Agreement is key to getting this plan to work for your entire family. Talk to your spouse or partner and your kids about what kind of meals you'll have, to be sure you're including foods they like.

For Kids: Loading Your Lunch Box

What was in the last three lunches you took to school? Write down a list. Circle the things you traded to other kids. Write down what you got instead. Cross off the things you just threw out because nobody wanted to eat them. Did you eat half of what was in your lunch every day? More on some days, less on others?

One way to make sure you have a lunch you like is to decide for yourself what you want to eat. Help your parents shop for food. Pack yourself a lunch that you will want to eat. Eating a good lunch will make your body and brain (and your parents!) a lot happier.

You cannot take all cookies and candy and soda, so don't even try to talk your parents into that! They will think you aren't serious, and they won't let you help.

Fill your lunch box with the different food groups: protein, fruit and vegetables, and grains. The list below combines foods into tasty meals. Read this list of food and choose the things you would like to eat.

Monday
peanut butter and sliced banana on whole grain bread (p,f,g),
unsweetened applesauce (f), mozzarella cheese sticks (p) and carrot sticks (v)

Tuesday
two hard boiled eggs (p), a cheddar-cheese on whole-grain bread sandwich (p,g), apple slices rolled in protein powder and cinnamon (f,p), tomato juice (v)

Wednesday
tuna sandwich on whole grain bread (p,g), apple slices with mozzarella cheese sticks (f,p), dill pickle (v)

Thursday
peanut butter and sliced apple on whole grain bread (p,f,g), banana (f), bag of almonds (p), jicama slices or carrot sticks (v)

Friday
cold chicken leg (p), Triscuits with cottage cheese (g,p), apples rolled in protein powder and cinnamon (f,p), celery sticks with peanut butter (v,p)

If you don't like unsweetened applesauce or bananas, pack a fruit you do like. Write down some other lunch ideas, including protein, fruit, vegetables and grains in each one. One important rule: when you eat fruit, make sure you eat some protein, too.

Keep your list of lunch ideas on the refrigerator. It will be easy to see when you are making your lunch. And you parents can use it when they are making the grocery list.
