October 28, 2013 Hi {!firstname_fix} This newsletter #520 represents 10 years of Sunday posting a newsletter. Brava to me, Gretel and our team for 10 years of diligence (smile). Who would have thought a bunch of sugar sensitives could show up so consistently! Well, I feel as if I have gotten all caught up after my trip on over to England for Ranch. Laundry is all settled, house is clean, drinking nice green smoothies and the world feels good. Somehow the process of coming together seems to get deeper and richer each time we do it. I think maybe because we have more people coming with longer time in the program. Greater recovery=deeper connections and more richness for the newer people. We have settled on dates for 2014 - the first weekend in May and the first weekend in October - so go ahead and mark your calendars. I should have the details negotiated for New Mexico in the next week or so to give you plenty of time to plan and budget. We learned a lot in Salisbury so everything will be enhanced. Our NM ranch will move back to the Best Western Rio Grande. It will let me move the pricing down. We will have a carpeted room and be able to enjoy their upgrades. Don't try to book yet because I am still negotiating with them. But mark the time and start your planning. Set up a Southwest Airlines notification now so you can watch flights and get a terrific ticket price. I am excited about all of it. These classes will begin Wednesday, October 30, 2013. Please click on the name of the class and it will take you to the registration page:
The class schedule is online. Click here to see what is planned. A number of you have asked me how the classes work. Check the class list page for more information on this. And please go read the questions and answers before you write to me. If you have trouble getting through the process, write the tech forum. Be sure to visit our Radiant Recovery website and Community Forum regularly. Warmly, Kathleen ********************************************************************** **Quote From Kathleen ** What seems like a story of food is really a story of possibility. ********************************************************************** **Testimonial of the Week ** I just know that everything became easy when I stopped being conflicted, when I knew what I wanted. The tugging back & forth is exhausting. Mel ********************************************************************** **Radiant Life ** Of course I have feelings. I should have clarified what I meant by "negative feelings and thoughts." It's that stuff we sometimes refer to as "negativity" in a person -- the gloom and doom, people do it to me, I hate myself, life sucks, you can't trust anybody, I'm totally fat and stupid, I can't handle life, I hate this whole damn world, life is so unfair -- you get the idea. My sister is dying -- I feel very sad about it. My grandson is blossoming in the theatre -- I feel very happy about it. My life is changing directions -- I feel very excited about it. Lots of feelings. No negative stuff. The anger piece is interesting -- you suggest maybe we have anger to tell us something is not right in our life and to make changes. Maybe we do, but I don't seem to operate that way anymore. I make changes because I notice something new popping up that is more appealing than the present so I move toward it, whether it is more direct communication or finding a new place to live. I live with honesty, integrity and fullness out of a deep appreciation and love for life and people around me, not out of feeling guilty or miserable or judged about bad behavior. This is different than it was before I did the food. As you can imagine, I live with deep gratitude for finding this program that has changed my life in many wonderful ways. Joy S ********************************************************************** **Radiant Ambassadors ** Radiant Recovery. What's your story? And how did YOU find out about Radiant Recovery? Selena selenas@blueyonder.co.uk Come join us if you are excited about spreading the news. ********************************************************************** **How I Found Radiant Recovery ** Hello everyone, I'm Lisa and I live in Athens, Georgia. I am on step one. I want to learn more about using the resources to help my recovery. I googled "sugar addiction" and came across a Radiant Recovery youtube. I then searched the website and ordered Potatoes not Prozac. ********************************************************************** ** Radiant Recovery® Store ** David manages the Radiant Recovery® Store. He is also Kathleen's oldest son. I just ordered 60 bottles of the ProDHA Eye omega 3 fatty acids. I think we have found a market for this product. EVERYONE who has tried them, including Kathleen, has switched to use this as her Omega choice. I just keep hearing reports of what a difference they have made with *dry eye* or eye fatigue that comes with getting older. Kathleen asked me to carry this product after she had heard a good report about it. I admit I was skeptical but wiliing. Here is a testimony to the impact of your input. Last week one of our regular customers told us about a Nordic Naturals product she had tried. It is called ProDHA Eye. She said her ophthalmologist had recommended it for *dry eye* and it was having a huge impact for her. Kathleen read that email and asked me if I had sent in our Nordic order yet. I said, *No, I was doing it that afternoon.* Here is her response: As I have gotten older, the issue of dry eye has become more of a problem. Living in New Mexico, which is DRY, DRY, makes it way worse. You know I LOVE Nordic products, let's give it a shot. I know it is a bit pricey, but when I think about how much I am spending on eye drops, this sounds way better. Here is what Nordic Naturals says about it:
Please send questions and suggestions. I love hearing from you and truly want to help you do your program better. ********************************************************************** **Radiant Kitchen ** Janet's Breakfast Muffins (This is the base -- read below for flavor variations)
Flavor Variations: - add 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese and 6 pieces fried, crumbled bacon to the dry mixture before adding liquids - add chopped strawberries or other berries to cream cheese mixture before adding to the batter, can also add unsweetened coconut. I just eyeball these amounts. - add a heaping spoonful of peanut butter to the cream cheese mixture. (I've also discovered macadamia nut butter and almond butter and have used these, plus the chopped nuts) - use just the base and cover the tops of each muffin with pecan halves before baking (or sometimes I add unsweetened coconut to this version, too) I find that by starting with this base, it's hard not to end up with a delicious muffin, no matter what I put in for flavor. This recipe was contributed by Janet from the Radiant Recovery Community Forum. **Radiant Recovery Glossary ** Kathleen DesMaisons, Ph.D. We have a lot of new people and I thought it would be fun to post our *glossary* again. I will post it around in a couple of places so you can let me know if you think of other things to add. 10.10: This is code for starting a movement plan by walking 10 minutes out the door and ten minutes back. 90/90: Code for attending 90 AA meetings in 90 days. We also use it to refer to posting on the community forum or an online list once a day for 90 days. BRB: Be right back Browns: Short for complex carbohydrates. Drug Talk: Conversation that includes specifics of sugar use, or acting out addictive behaviors. ED: Abbreviation for Eating Disorder. FOF: Abbreviation for Focus on the Food...code for working the steps rather than fretting about everything else. Forgetting: We use this term instead of “relapse.” Forum: Refers to the community forum where folks connect with one another. HTH: Hope that helps IMHO: In my humble opinion LOL: Laughing out loud LSA: Abbreviation for Little Sugar Addicts, the book for parents who are dealing with sugar sensitive children. Remembering: Waking up from addiction. Sugar use makes us forget. Remembering happens when we come back and start over. ROOFTOP : We use this to express really, really laughing. When Kathleen had typed ROTFLMAO (rolling on the floor laughing my a** off) and her spell checker changed it to ROOFTOP. RR: Radiant Recovery SARP: Abbreviation for The Sugar Addict’s Total Recovery Program, a how-to manual for doing the 7 Steps. Stacking: refers to an accumulation of events or different types of food. The content is true but the enormity is heightened and distorted by sugar use. Within an Hour: Refers to having breakfast within an hour of getting up.
