October 7, 2013 Hi {!firstname_fix} I am in New Jersey on a layover on the way to Salisbury, England for Euroranch. The trees are starting to turn to red and gold, the sky was grey and misty. Soft, I call it soft. Tonight we went out for dinner, I had clams - steamers. Tasty! Preparations are all set and I am excited to leave on Tuesday. I know you will be hearing a lot as we go. I will work on posting pictures to the Radiant Recovery® Facebook page so you can experience it with us. This class will begin Wednesday, October 9, 2013. **Quote From Kathleen ** One of the real markers for your recovery is to begin to think about your food needs before you get into trouble. **********************************************************************
**Testimonial of the Week ** My 4 kids have been doing the food with me for years. My youngest, 11 yo girl, has been having increasing difficulty waking up on these cold mornings (it is winter in Australia), and getting food into her in time to walk to school has gotten more and more difficult ...until I remembered someone saying about bringing breakfast to the child in bed. Now everything in my "when they obey they can have a treat" background screamed against me doing this "pampering" of a "willful" child. But when I thought about the biochemistry, it became an easy decision. So I take my medication (which must be 1/2 hr before food), get up, go to the kitchen, prepare oatmeal for myself and my daughter, stir in some milk powder and take it in to her. A drowsy good morning, and she eats sitting up in bed. I get dressed, then eat my oatmeal while cooking the eggs. Soon she is in the kitchen ready for the eggs and bacon I have cooked for her. 20 minutes later she is fully breakfasted and dressed. 30 min from when she was asleep, she is ready to leave home (and so am I). Lunch gets packed as we finish eating. The older 3 kids all cook their own breakfasts and pack their own lunches...all I have to do is make sure the doings are available...it messes things up if I forget to put the bread out before I go to bed! No whinging from anyone. Not the child, or me! No nagging, no dragging, or dawdling...because we have addressed the biochemical reason that she couldn't do the things for herself!! **Radiant Life ** Of course I have feelings. I should have clarified what I meant by "negative feelings and thoughts." It's that stuff we sometimes refer to as "negativity" in a person -- the gloom and doom, people do it to me, I hate myself, life sucks, you can't trust anybody, I'm totally fat and stupid, I can't handle life, I hate this whole damn world, life is so unfair -- you get the idea. My sister is dying -- I feel very sad about it. My grandson is blossoming in the theatre -- I feel very happy about it. My life is changing directions -- I feel very excited about it. Lots of feelings. No negative stuff. The anger piece is interesting -- you suggest maybe we have anger to tell us something is not right in our life and to make changes. Maybe we do, but I don't seem to operate that way anymore. I make changes because I notice something new popping up that is more appealing than the present so I move toward it, whether it is more direct communication or finding a new place to live. I live with honesty, integrity and fullness out of a deep appreciation and love for life and people around me, not out of feeling guilty or miserable or judged about bad behavior. This is different than it was before I did the food. As you can imagine, I live with deep gratitude for finding this program that has changed my life in many wonderful ways. **Radiant Ambassadors ** Did you know that Radiant Recovery has two groups on Facebook now? The original group now has over 1,000 members and the newer Radiant Recovery International is already up to 1,300 fans. I don’t know about you, but even with some duplication of members, I find that incredibly exciting! And Potatoes not Prozac is currently residing at number 6 in the Amazon UK depression books listings. I don‘t think the book has been out of the top 10 since it was published :) How about we try to increase its ranking to number 1? We could do this by adding a book review on Amazon and perhaps tweeting about it too! It’s really straightforward and you can write as much or as little as you like in the review! What do you think? Shall we do it? (grin) Selena selenas@blueyonder.co.uk Come join us if you are excited about spreading the news. **********************************************************************
**How I Found Radiant Recovery ** Hi All, My name is Teresa and I also stumbled onto PNP by accident, although I do believe it was not by complete accident:)! I am an emotional eater and my go-to food is sweets! So this will be a struggle. I have been journaling my food, etc. for about 3 weeks and have started with the breakfast proteins! Also trying to work in the 3 meals per day but that part is lagging some! I have cut back on the sugar already and have been feeling much better! Although I am trying to have sweets with dinner now instead of all day long!! I have been dealing with my stressors in other ways than sweets and feeling pretty good so far with that accomplishment, have had a few but not near what it use to be! Looking forward to the journey! **********************************************************************
** Radiant Recovery® Store ** David manages the Radiant Recovery® Store. He is also Kathleen's oldest son. As many of you know, I asked David to carry this product after I had heard a good report about it. I told you I LOVED it. I forgot to take the bottle to Florida when I went to visit my brother. Last week, my eyes were itching and burning and feeling really dry. I couldn't figure out why. Finally it dawned on me so I started up again. Two days later, things were fine…pretty amazing. Here is a testimony to the impact of your input. Last week one of our regular customers told us about a Nordic Naturals product she had tried. It is called ProDHA Eye. She said her ophthalmologist had recommended it for *dry eye* and it was having a huge impact for her. Kathleen read that email and asked me if I had sent in our Nordic order yet. I said, *No, I was doing it that afternoon.* Here is her response: As I have gotten older, the issue of dry eye has become more of a problem. Living in New Mexico, which is DRY, DRY, makes it way worse. You know I LOVE Nordic products, let's give it a shot. I know it is a bit pricey, but when I think about how much I am spending on eye drops, this sounds way better. Here is what Nordic Naturals says about it:
Please send questions and suggestions. I love hearing from you and truly want to help you do your program better. **********************************************************************
**Radiant Kitchen ** I am a bit of a throw it together kinda cook and go by eye more often than I measure, so this is a collaboration for an actual recipe. :)
Here is what I did.

**Our Online Groups ** Have you been sitting on the couch a lot, suffering from being inside too much, and thinking about a wee bit of movement? We would love to have you join us in exploring new ways of moving on the Movement List. Even if you can only walk to the end of the driveway, you are welcome. We have a new team to support you and we are planning LOTS of fun. The Movement list is for people who want to start moving again and to baby step into a regular exercise program. If you can remember how much fun it was to move when you were a child and you've lost that, the Movement list is the perfect place for you. And, if you don't remember, we'll help you rediscover it. There are some wonderful people on the list who will share their stories and help you explore different options to form a movement plan that works for you.. We are enthusiastic about our own exercise, but we also understand first hand how hard it was to start and to baby step into regular movement. It's a great list; come join us. **********************************************************************
**Change Leaping Ahead ** Kathleen DesMaisons, Ph.D.
I know that many of you have made some very powerful changes in the last few months. I have some thoughts that might offer some helpful insight for you. I think it is as if suddenly one part of you, either your emotional self or you thinking self, or even your physical self makes some kind of leap forward. Like BAM! That part goes leaping ahead. And the rest remains behind in the dust. The leap in one creates disequilibrium in the whole. And you end up feeling really, really tired. It is confusing because you may feel like things are good; it makes no sense that you would all of a sudden feel such fatigue. But it isn’t really tiredness, it is actually a pull to be quiet, to concentrate, to remain still to let yourself catch up and create harmony in a new balance. And sometimes, you don’t realize this, you don’t heed it. Many of you have heard me say, “I think your enthusiasm is running ahead of your brain’s ability to catch up.” This is the same kind of thing. Your growth is running ahead of your assimilation. You need to catch up, you need to rest to assimilate and the parts need to get balanced. And perhaps, most significantly, you may have to adjust your food. I think many of us discovered this in the last few months when we changed how we were exercising. What we had been eating was no longer enough. And needing to eat more to be balanced was very disconcerting. It touched all those old feelings of wanting to “restrict” lest we GAIN WEIGHT. We were shocked at how embedded those feelings were. But we talked about it, and on some level, we totally got the issue of creating harmony. And that changing, increasing our food would reestablish a state of equilibrium that had been broken; it impelled us to a new level of inner awareness. Those who had scoffed at or forgotten the value of the journal found themselves in need of that tool. Going back to it with this new awareness was profound. The journal became the way to discover what we needed, how much, when. We were looking not only at “best browns” but “best proteins,” “best fats.” We started to learn to determine for each body at this time, exactly, given our personal equation, the level of activity, the level of brain stress, the need to recuperate, just what was needed now at this point in time. And this knowing emerged about what we thought was fatigue was instead something of a spiritual crisis, for want of a better description. Now I see that it is a reorganization need, a call to use our skills to know positively and precisely what is out of order, why it got disturbed, and what we need to do to put it back together into harmony. Who would have ever though that “doing the food” could mean such a process! Thanks for reading! If you know someone who could benefit from this, feel free to forward it to them. Not a subscriber yet?
