March 11, 2013 Hi {!firstname_fix} Whoa, that time change is a HARD deal. I felt like jet lag city all day! This is a step into *spring* edition of the newsletter. I watered my totally *dead* lilacs that go all across the front of my yard yesterday. Today they are smiling and I can *feel* that something is happening. It reflects some stirring that is happening in my heart. I never, ever buy clothes on spec with the idea that I will wear them *after I lose weight.* But yesterday I had to go over to the Apple store to get a new keyboard. I parked a couple of blocks away and had to walk by Chicos. They had just put out their spring collection which meant there were actually some larger sizes in there. Like the lilacs, I felt something inside...like it was time to have some beautiful clothes. I had a little pot of money which showed up as an unexpected reimbursement. I got some clothes and gulped because with the tax, it was more than I had planned to spend. The saleslady said, *Did you realize that everything in the store is 25% off today?* I smiled. The amount left was almost to the dollar of the money I had. I took it as a sign. I am revising the Obesity Myth Class again. I know that many of you feel that if you have taken something, it will be old hat. I guarantee you that this material will knock your socks off. I am not only going to talk about what the guy who wrote the book says, I am going to talk about what *I* have to say. More about how the *myths* can be so internalized that we don't even know it. And a reminder, if you have not signed up for Radiant Ranch, and you are interested in this topic of weight loss and what is particularly key for sugar-sensitive folks, it is a good ranch to come to. Basically, I have sorted out the rest of the story for Your Last Diet, and why we have struggled with the last piece of resistant weight gain. Read more in the article. We just have a few slots left, so if you are on the fence, it's a good time to go for it. These classes will begin Wednesday, March 13, 2013. **Quote From Kathleen ** As you keep your journal you can discover that there is a direct correlation between what you are eating and how you are feeling. **********************************************************************
**Testimonial of the Week ** That's funny (in the strange way, not the haha way) I felt RR would make me less free when I first started. That was a big part of my resistance. But guess what? I *gained* freedom instead. No more fighting the urge to binge or giving in and feeling awful. No more hating myself for being fat or crabby. No more hiding half a sheet cake in my closet and *having* to pick at it all day or buying something at the store and scarfing it down in the back of the parking lot - praying no one would drive by and see me. No more ordering two sodas at McDonalds and throwing one away so the person waiting on me wouldn't know it was all for me. No more going out with friends or to a gathering and concentrating on the sweets instead of enjoying the fun. No more depression. No more mood swings. No more feeling as if something is missing - and never finding out what it is. No more hating myself. Breakfast is the first step to that freedom. And we can move slowly so we don't have to be afraid of what lies ahead. Carrie **********************************************************************
**Radiant Ambassadors ** You may remember that a few weeks ago I wrote to David Cameron because he was reported as having trouble keeping his children away from sugary drinks. Anyway, I received a reply!! The Prime Minister thanked me for the copy of Little Sugar Addicts I sent. I was also told that my letter would be forwarded to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs so that they are aware of my thoughts too. Still, even if he didn't get to see the actual book, someone in 10 Downing Street will have seen it. And that's a result in my book! **How I Found Radiant Recovery ** I'm Angella. I came to RR in 2008 from googling sugar addiction. I felt like I had walked through a magic door when I came to the RR website, I was shocked to realize I wasn't alone. I didn't close the webpage because I was afraid when I tried to find it again it would have disappeared. I'm married and we have two daughters, ages 12 and 7. I homeschool them both. They are both sugar sensitive, and in uniquely different ways, go figure LOL. Before RR I was depressed, afraid, neither my husband nor I could cope with our oldest daughter, my family was on the verge of falling apart. I came to RR to heal myself, but I saw my oldest daughter was really struggling with being imbalanced from sugar addiction, and around step three I started considering the possibility that this program could heal her too. Working the program for myself, and with her, has been transformative. I could never have imagined that the joy and love my family lives in today was possible. **********************************************************************
** Radiant Recovery® Store ** David manages the Radiant Recovery® Store. He is also Kathleen's oldest son. Here is a testimony to the impact of your input. Last week one of our regular customers told us about a Nordic Naturals product she had tried. It is called ProDHA Eye. She said her ophthalmologist had recommended it for *dry eye* and it was having a huge impact for her. Kathleen read that email and asked me if I had sent in our Nordic order yet. I said, *No, I was doing it that afternoon.* Here is her response: As I have gotten older, the issue of dry eye has become more of a problem. Living in New Mexico, which is DRY, DRY, makes it way worse. You know I LOVE Nordic products, let's give it a shot. I know it is a bit pricey, but when I think about how much I am spending on eye drops, this sounds way better. Here is what Nordic Naturals says about it:
Please send questions and suggestions. I love hearing from you and truly want to help you do your program better. **********************************************************************
**Radiant Kitchen ** I love broccoli! And since we are talking about it in the veggie class, I thought you would like this yummy recipe that is sure to win over your family to eating greens. I adapted this from a real simple magazine recipe. BROCCOLI WITH GARLIC LEMON CRUMBS

**Radiant Conversations ** We have a new portal for the Conversations program. Come check it out here. We have conducted the most incredible poll about the topics you would like to speak on. Last week we did introversion/extroversion and it was fabulous. I just read a new book on this subject, and I think you will LOVE hearing about it, so let's do one more round. She writes from an Innie perspective and speaks about how the culture of success is shaped by Outie values. And she offers a pretty major challenge to some deeply ingrained ideas. I find the concepts fascinating and will look forward to your ideas a lot. Make sure to add your vote to the poll. If you would like to join us, you can do that below. **On The Art of Journaling ** Kathleen DesMaisons, Ph.D.
I think it is easy to find the journal a pain in the you know what when you don't *use* it. Or when you don't want to *see* what it says. But when it becomes a tool, and you like the information, then it comes alive. Let me give you a specific example. Yesterday I was prowling around feeling grumpy. And I was thinking about sweet things, LOL. I wrote in my journal, *I have no idea what is going on*..then this little voice says, *Oh, count back 4 days and see what you find, woman!* Well, four days ago I made the decision to cut butter out of my diet. Butter raises BE. 4-day effect = craving and grumpy. I was just laughing at myself. Now, I like to think of myself as pretty skilled with my food. But without my journal, I would be just plain stupid because I do not and can not remember the kinds of details that tell me what is really going on. I would like to think I do, but I do not. I miss the details where the data is. So hereis the thing...if some one comes in and YELLS, 'I HATE MY JOURNAL!!!!!!!,' my response is *Oh, don't be silly, don't bother with it.* We are such drama puppies. That is part of being sugar sensitive. But....(smile) if you want what we have, do what we do. If you want to stay wrapped in fuzz and depression and drama, then you can do that too. And I do not mean this judgmentally at all. I say this to myself. If I get sloppy with my food plan, and I do from time to time, then my life gets sloppy. It took a long time to accept the direct correlation. I didn't want it to be that way. I wanted it to be *stress* or getting older or the time of the year. But it is not, It is the quality of my food plan...which means food, timing, JOURNAL. Many people ask what kind of journal, what do I write, how much do I write, what if I just put fine a hundred times, what if I lose it, what if someone reads it and a thousand other questions. It really is very simple. We made up a journal for you that works really well. If you don't like that one, get one that suits you. Use a simple note book. Write enough to know the story. This is for you, not for perfection. Give yourself data. If you put *fine* in for your feelings a hundred times, use the feelings list in Your Body Speaks to teach yourself new words for *fine.* If you lose it, get another. If someone reads it, shrug and keep writing. This is not a personal, intimate discussion where you bare your soul, it is a log to teach you to make connections about how you feel and how you do your program. You don't know yet how they correspond. Journal, journal carefully, and find out. If you want what we have, do what we do. Thanks for reading! If you know someone who could benefit from this, feel free to forward it to them. Not a subscriber yet? Like what you have read?
