Hi {!firstname_fix}

Well, Mr. Peacock was courting the Guinea Hens today. His wing span is probably 8 feet and his feathers were shimmering in the light. It is a pretty spectacular sight, and surely a sign of spring. The trees are getting leaves, the roses sending up little pink leaves, too, and the flowers are out. Today had that energy, spring...it is quite lovely.

I was sitting in the Indian Cultural Center for breakfast smiling at the idea of their making gluten-free blue corn pancakes for Radiant Ranch. Funny how food shapes our planning for events, LOL.

You will notice a change in how we are going to do the Step One class. We are making this a one-week intensive class and reducing the price. We have a lot of new people coming in each week so we wanted to make this really accessible. If you are new, sign up for the Using Radiant Resources class...and then make it a point to join the Step One class. Not only will you learn the ropes, you can meet the step one team who will be there helping all of you.

Look for more changes in our classes over the next few months. We are crafting some very exciting adaptations that I think you will love.

If you do the food, it clears the path for Grace to flow. If you don't do the food, it disarms the flow. Doing the food gives us a way to participate in Grace unfolding.

** Testimonial of the Week **

Some others have given you some good advice, and I have a little add-on. Rushing through the program, crashing and burning and then going back to step one sounds very familiar. Except, with me, I had read the book and heard others talking about doing that so I even tried to trick myself and say that I wasn't rushing through the program, I was just efficient. Truth be told, I did rush to step five, crashed, and finally came back to step one, humbled.

So one thing I told myself that really helped was that I could keep trying to rush through and having to come back to step one, or I could take my time, do it right, and then only have to go through the steps once. Trust me, and I'm sure many others can vouch, going slow is much faster in the long run. And the more you do the steps the less antsy you are about going through them. You learn to appreciate them and know what it feels like to be ready to move to the next step. I'm sorry, I know how rough things are now but I am on Step Six and I can tell you from experience things get so much better, it feels like a miracle. Hope this helped, I'm sending hugs your way!

Katy

** Radiant Ambassadors **

Hey all-

Well, today I passed out a couple of the RR cards. Yes! It was fun and kind of funny.

I've been going to some Al-anon meetings in my area and really getting a lot out of them. Anyhow, today I finally got up some courage to talk with a few other folks who regularly attend. One of the women asked for my number after the meeting so we could meet at another al-anon thingy in a neighboring town. Well I had the RR cards in my backpack and just wrote my cell phone number down on one of the cards. LOL. Then we got talking about the RR program a bit. Both of the women I met after the meeting knew about RR. One of them had tried it for 3 years, apparently, and then had quit. She said something about loving ice cream too much (sigh).

Well, it was a fun and new experience for me talking about RR with people outside the RR community. I look forward to doing more of this.

** How I Found Radiant Recovery **

I found my way to a part of the bookstore that I never cared about - health and nutrition. BO-RING! My arms and legs seemed to operate independently of my brain for those few minutes. I walked right to the shelf (it was on the bottom), picked it up, read the cover, thought "That's dumb, you can't be addicted to sugar." Read the first several pages. Got intrigued and frightened at the same time. Put it back, left the store quickly. It gnawed at me for a full day, I drove back and bought it.

I either "fell or was pushed". I like to think I was pushed. By what I don't know.

Here I am. Seven years later. With a life I never remotely thought was possible.

** Radiant Kitchen **

The big cook project came about in response to a Radiant friend in need emailing me to ask if I might be able to give some advice about obtaining home health care. I knew she had just had an accident with serious injuries followed by extensive surgery... and replied that I think I can, yah - I will call you. Then I called, and said I would like to come myself, and could be there the next day. She liked the idea, and so I was off to make some arrangements to be able to be gone for a while, would head out for the 4 1/2 hr drive the next morning.

I made some calls to work, pet sitter, rescheduled some upcoming appointments, then packed up some food from my pantry, and a stack of foil TV dinner trays. :)

Since I've been here, I've done a lot of cooking to make dinners to freeze - to have 'doing the food' be easy peasy after I've left and gone home. I posted what I was going to make a few days ago, though some things changed a little since then..heh..so lets see....

These are the 40 TV dinners that Scooter D. McGruder and I have made so far:

Orange chicken, brown rice, sweet potatoes, tri-colored string bean mix.

Turkey, stuffing, gravy, sweet potatoes, peas with mushrooms.

Chicken with mushrooms and pearl onions, mixed grain pilaf, mixed veggies.

Pot roast, onions, carrots, mixed grain pilaf.

Salisbury steak w/ gravy, mashed sweet potato and green beans.

Roast pork with apples and pears, mixed grain pilaf and summer squash/green bean/carrot medley.

Night before last, I had a pork loin roast in 1 crock pot, pot roast in another, salisbury steak simmering in electric skillet while a big tray of sweet potatoes and some cauliflower roasted in the oven. The kitchen was a very nice smelling place to be!

People have been dropping off food to help - and it's been fun playing with the various items so they can work together to form program friendly meals.

I've also been having fun driving into town (not just a skip and a jump like home! LOL) to shop for food to cook with, and things that will help make some tasks easier one-handed. It is beautiful here, and though very similar to *home* in some ways, also very different in others. One highlight has been the opportunity to shop at the Vermont Country Store - which I have only known by catalog and have loved for a long long time, just a few miles up the road!!

I am off to make a batch of chicken and rice muffins (portable, convenient, delicious protein/brown that can be eaten out of hand like a muffin) and then will be heading home tomorrow.

Diane

**Tsunami **
Kathleen DesMaisons, Ph.D.

As we are going through the first anniversary of the Japan Tsunami, I thought it would be appropriate to offer this article again.

I have waited to write to you about the Tsunami because I , like most of you I am sure, have had to collect my thoughts first. It was too big, too devastating to even know where to start in making sense of it. But today, something clicked for me.

As some of you know, I have had an ongoing interest in the scientist from Japan who has been photographing frozen water crystals and seeing the impact of different messages on the structure of the water. He published a series of amazing photographs. The crystals from water that many people had said *I love you to* were exquisite and beautifully formed. The crystals from the water that people had said *you fool* or *I hate you* were malformed, broken and distorted.

Even more interesting were photographs from a lake that was severely polluted. The crystals from the lake water were dark, jagged and looked like the water exposed to heavy metal rock music. It was pretty unsettling. Then they did an intriguing experiment. They took a group of people out to this lake and prayed for it. After the prayer, they collected some water, froze it and photographed it. Its structure had changed totally. It was now formed into the same sort of perfect crystal structure we see in snowflakes.

The scientist is now talking about praying for the ground water left after the tsunami. He is convening people to offer their prayers. So I went over to his website to check out what he was saying. His message seems a little strange to me these days. He no longer posts the photographs on his web site for free, you have to pay for them. He gets paid a lot of money for lectures and the like. So I am thinking he has kinda forgotten the simplicity of his own original message.

But the invitation retains its power. I like the idea of offering our prayers not only for the people but for the water and the land. There are a lot of us. And there are a lot of us in recovery which means we have cleared out a lot of our own fear and distortion and *pollution* from the water (all 90% of it) within our own bodies. So I think we have clear hearts to ask for healing for the areas that were devastated. I am going to suggest that we do this collectively. Perhaps every day at 6 PM MST we can all stop for 5 minutes and simply ask for healing of the devastated land and people. Here is a link to an international clock if you want to sort out what time that would be for you. Use Denver, CO to calculate MST.

I know I cannot make this horrible, horrible thing right, but I can offer my own heart and openness for the healing to come. I invite you to join me and all those who are making this commitment.

Warmly,
Kathleen
