May 30, 2011 Hi {!firstname_fix} Temperatures have climbed up to hot in the afternoon here. Cool in the morning, hot by afternoon. My flowers in the Josie garden are all blooming and singing. I had a gazillion little yellow finches eating thistle outside the window. The dogs lie out in the yard in the evening just watching the light change. All good I would say. Everything feels settled. This class will begin Wednesday, June 1, 2011. Please click on the name of the class and it will take you to the registration page: Step 6 (2 weeks) is a class for those of you getting ready to detox or having detoxed and wondering why it is so hard after. We talk about *the flat*. This class will begin Wednesday, June 8, 2011. ** Quote From Kathleen ** You are in the process of becoming more aware, more attentive, and more committed as you go. It is cumulative. **********************************************************************
** Testimonial of the Week ** So glad you're here. I can really relate to many of these feelings.... but one of the things I am discovering on my recovery journey is that time is never wasted! The depth and quality of life that comes out of recovery--I believe-- could only happen if we have been where we have been! When I was a little girl, I loved the movie Sleeping Beauty. There is a scene in there where the witches' minions are shooting arrows at the fairy godmothers... but instead of deflecting them, the fairy godmothers turn them into roses. I think that is what Grace and Recovery can do for us... take the arrows life has thrown at us (or we have thrown at ourselves!) and turn them into something beautiful! And the truth is, that there would be no roses if there hadn't been arrows. Peace to you today! Kate **********************************************************************
** Radiant Ambassadors ** Teresa shared a success with us on the Ambassadors List recently - I was so impressed I thought I would share her post with you too: I had a nice ambassador moment this morning. I have a centre that I have been going to for a while. It is mainly for Mums and women to get out do courses, and socialise. I noticed they have a library for people to browse. It contains lots of books on food, healthy eating and parenting. I had been thinking PNP would make a lovely addition to it! Selena selenas@blueyonder.co.uk Come join us if you are excited about spreading the news. **********************************************************************
** How I Found Radiant Recovery ** Hi, I'm MJ in Northern Ireland. I have just re-read PNP (revised edn) and these past couple of days have launched myself on step 4. I discovered SARP and PNP (1st edition) probably about five years ago, read them, tried to do all steps in a matter of weeks, skipping step 2, so I wasn't really doing all the steps after all! I learned a valuable lesson from my crash and burn experiences: Just do what Kathleen says in the order she says to do it. She knows what she's talking about! Finally in late '08 I got very serious about doing this SLOWLY which has worked much better for me, but I never took this tour or any of the online classes. I have started and stopped step 4 several times and feel I need the support to make it work this time, so.... I am starting with this class and then will go join the step 4 list. And now for a little *wave* to folks whose intros I've read from Texas and Wisconsin. I've lived in both of those states too, before moving to Northern Ireland. I love the fact that people from so many different parts of the globe can meet up here. **********************************************************************
** Radiant Recovery® Store ** David manages the Radiant Recovery® Store. He is also Kathleen's oldest son. I was having breakfast and thought it would be fun to report it here. I have a SHAKE made with Restore , almond milk and some baby oatmeal. I add some of the vanilla flavoring from the store. I got a big bottle of it and put an olive oil spout on the top. I also add some of the All-One vitamins. I use the pink can with the antioxidants in it. I put all this in a pink shaker bottle and take it in the car with me when I go out for a meeting. Takes about 3.5 minutes to put together. Please send questions and suggestions. I love hearing from you and truly want to help you do your program better. **********************************************************************
** Happenings on Facebook ** Where did all of you come from who are talking and rockin' in the Radiant Recovery Group? What fun! Make sure to check both places on Facebook at Radiant Recovery International or Radiant Recovery Group and join the fun!. **********************************************************************
** Radiant Kitchen ** I have two pre-teen and near-teen athletes, and I know about the easy temptation of protein bars. It's going to be hard to compete with something that comes in a wrapper. A container of cooked chicken breast works well for my kids, and also the Costco-sized hot dogs. Cheese and crackers or crackers and jerky might deliver a better protein hit, and come in packages. (Okay, the suggestions are pouring in from my kids now...) How about a roll-up made with cottage cheese pancakes and nut butter? Or some chicken and cheese quesadillas on whole wheat tortillas? Or some kind of sandwich in whole wheat pita? We have a sandwich maker and it's a great way to make portable food. Two whole grain slices of bread with some chicken and cheese melted inside is really yummy. The sandwich maker is also a great way to make a portable cheeseburger - surprisingly tasty, even cold. The main thing I'd suggest, however, is adding another meal after school. When my kids have three practices a week, their regular meal/snack schedule isn't enough. If I give them an entree-sized snack (hamburger, turkey sandwich, etc.) with protein and browns after school, they stay happier, have better practices/games, and are still plenty hungry for dinner. I'm guessing that the teen is resisting the food. Tell her to try it for a week or two and see if her performance in her sport doesn't improve substantially. It has for my kids! For more great program-friendly recipes, check out our cookbook in the store. **********************************************************************
** Radiant Conversations ** I am thinking it will be fun to talk in chat about the Nano contest for Step One. (smile) You all know what happens when the creative juices start flowing. Make sure to mark your calendar for Wednesday nights! If you are not a YLD member, come and join us. Click here if you want to be a part of the latest and greatest or just have some plain ol' fun! **********************************************************************
** Our Online Groups ** The Movement list is for people who want to start moving again and to baby step into a regular exercise program. If you can remember how much fun it was to move when you were a child and you've lost that, the Movement list is the perfect place for you. And, if you don't remember, we'll help you rediscover it. There are some wonderful people on the list who will share their stories and help you explore different options to form a movement plan that works for you.. We are enthusiastic about our own exercise, but we also understand first hand how hard it was to start and to baby step into regular movement. It's a great list; come join us. **********************************************************************
