Hi {!firstname_fix}

I really enjoyed the conference last week. I was in Hilton Head, SC with about 800 therapists, doctors and social workers who are interested in mind-body things. I presented about sugar sensitivity and it was well received. It was wonderful to hear about all the intriguing things people are doing these days.

I am all prepared to start my cross country journey. I will pack the little U-haul tomorrow and then on Wednesday, the dogs and I will start on our trek to Maine. Make sure to check the forum for my along-the-way reports.

This class will begin Wednesday, December 12, 2007. Please click on the name of the class you wish to join and it will take you to the registration page:

Using the Resources of the Community is for those of you who are brand new and would like to find your way around town. Come sit on the top of our double decker bus for a guided tour. And even if you are not brand new, this is a really fun class to reconnect with all the treats of the community.

This class will begin Wednesday, December 19, 2007. Please click on the name of the class you wish to join and it will take you to the registration page:

Holy Night Reflections is our annual very special time of connecting to the real meaning of Christmas. This is my gift to you at this time of year. There is no cost for this special class. Won't you come join us and transform your experience of Christmas?

The class schedule is on line. Click here to see what is planned. Please do not sign up for classes that are not yet scheduled.

A number of you have asked me how the classes work. Check the class list page for more information on this. The classes are done online and you do not have to be at your computer at any set time. It does not matter whether you are in the US, Europe, the Far East or Australia, you simply respond on your own time. And although I advertise that the classes are one or two weeks, sometimes we are a little flexible and they may run longer.

And please go read the questions and answers before you write to me. If you have trouble getting through the process, write the tech forum.

Please feel free to pass this week's newsletter on to your friends and family. Don't forget to let me know what you like and would like to see me cover.

Be sure to visit our Radiant Recovery® website and Community Forum regularly.

Warmly,
Kathleen

** Testimonial for the Week**

Emily, Step 7

Well, I like that dream! I’m 9 months detoxed now so my dreams are really coming more alive again for me. Recently the world is just a lot more interesting and I talk to people or see things and think “I’d like to try that someday” and so I add it to my dream list. I really felt like I’d lost all dreams for so long. I think doing the food opens that up for us again. But, also day to day life is just richer. I was singing to myself as I made my shake this morning and I’m excited to clean my house today because I have a holiday project I’m anxious to get to. This isn’t me! Or maybe it is – just me steady and happy.

**Radiant Kitchen**

By Naomi Muller, Step 7, author of Nutritious and Delicious Cookbook.

This latke recipe comes from my cookbook. It is not at all traditional but not a bad way to introduce kids to some vegetables! You could serve these as a side dish for your holiday meals.

VEGETABLE LATKES (PANCAKES)

  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1/4 cup chopped red bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1 1/2 cup grated carrots
  • 1/4 cup chopped celery
  • 1 10 oz. package of frozen spinach
  • 3 Tbsp. light tasting olive oil
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 3/4 cup whole wheat matzo meal or finely ground rye cracker crumbs
  • 1 1/2 tsp. sea salt
  • light tasting olive oil for frying
Sauté onion, garlic, red and green peppers, carrots and celery for 10 minutes. Cook and drain spinach. Combine all vegetables. Add eggs and seasonings and mix well. Add matzo meal and combine well. Refrigerate for 15 minutes. Form mixture into patties and fry in oil until browned on each side.

**Your Last Diet: More Than What You Think**

YLDonline is a membership program run directly by Kathleen DesMaisons herself.

You may have read about the YLD stocking exchange in the newsletter last week. If you are a member of YLD, come join us :) It is raising my holiday spirit by leaps and bounds. The chat last week was full of low-cost/no-cost holiday gift ideas, very helpful.

And if you are not a member of YLD, may I suggest that it would make a nice Christmas present to yourself. YLD is about way more than weight issues. The chats are a priceless opportunity to have a real-time conversation with Kathleen and other members of the community. We laugh, we cry--talk about a BE raiser! They are especially great for those of us who are a little fun-challenged. The classes and list are very helpful and supportive--last summer I took a YLD class on clothes that was life-changing, believe it or not.

You do not need to be ready to lose weight to love YLD, or even have any weight to lose. A YLD in-person meeting would show us as all sizes, all ages--and at least one guy amongst the women LOL!

Okay, that's my spiel for the day.

Jeannie

If you are not a YLD member, come and join us. Click here if you are ready to change your life or just plain ole have fun.

I thought you would enjoy reading this description that one of our members wrote on a list. Don't forget I can send any configuration of Shake in your subscription. I can also include a flavor of the month. You let me know what you want, and I will make sure it gets there.

George's Original Shake Mix is soy-based. It has oats and vitamins already in it. It is pretty neutral-tasting, sort of vanilla. You add whatever flavor you like from fruit, peanut butter, chocolate milk, etc. Soy is great for menopausal women, and fine for most adults, but not good for kids and pregnant and nursing women. women.

Restore and George Junior are whey protein isolate, microfiltered and very pure. Kathleen added some special ingredients to make them both taste good. They dissolve beautifully and taste sort of creamy, barely there when you mix them in milk. It is great for just about everyone, since they aren't soy-based, and even people like me who have problems with dairy usually are fine with it, because of the microfiltration process. Restore and Junior are very digestible and easy on the tummy. They don't have the complex carb, so you need to add that. Because they doesn't have the vitamins in it, you can cook or bake with them.

Please send questions and suggestions. I love hearing from you and truly want to help you do your program better.

**Our Online Groups**

Most of us underestimate the importance of breakfast and try to do all the steps in the first week. When that doesn't work, we begin again. We concentrate on Step 1, breakfast, and find our lives begin to change.

The RadiantBreakfast list is a great place to learn the nuances of breakfast, build a strong foundation for the rest of the Steps, and find how helpful it is to share our journey with others. It is great for new people and those who have been on the program a long time. Sharing helps everyone.

The awesome thing is we all, Step 1 or Step 7, eat breakfast every single day. How cool is that?

We'd love it for you to Sign up: We love new members!
