** Testimonial for the Week**
I was tired all the time and joints aching and hopeless. I was, and am, fat (280lbs) . After 3months and on Step 3, I have energy, hope, optimism and feelings of happiness I haven't experienced in a looong time. It is deceptively simple 'on paper' but in action it is an extraordinary process and it is made all the more amazing by the great wealth of kindness and wisdom that people here have shared with me. I am no longer bingeing. My eating has stabilised and I am feeling more stable than I have in ages. It *is* possible to do this, you will have so much help and support. It *isn't* a phoney fix. Best wishes in your healing process, Emma ********************************************************************
**Recipe of the Week**
Here is another of Maggi's wonderful recipes. Oven Fried Chicken
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Line a baking sheet with foil. Set a wire rack on the baking sheet and coat it with cooking spray. Whisk flour, sesame seeds, paprika, thyme, baking powder, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Pace the flour mixture in a paper bag or large Ziploc bag. Shaking off excess marinade, place one or two pieces of chicken at a time int eh bag and shake to coat. Shake off excess flour and place chicken on the prepared rack. (Discard any leftover flour mixture and marinade). Spray chicken pieces with cooking spray. Bake chicken until golden brown and no longer pink in the middle, 40 – 50 minutes. This recipe comes from Eating Well magazine... By the way, you can make them into chicken tenders too...just buy the tenders or boneless chicken breasts and cut into strips. You prep them the same way....I have made them and then a little dipping sauce (mayo and pesto or jasper's bbq sauce) and then sent them as a school lunch.... **Our Online Groups**
Hello. My name is Janie. I'm the volunteer liaison for RadiantParents. I have four children, three of them are teenagers, yikes! I have suffered from depression since my early twenties but it wasn't until I had children that my depression really got worse. I went to all different doctors and tried all sorts of medications and remedies but nothing ever worked for me. It wasn't until I found Potatoes not Prozac that I finally found the answer to what was wrong with me. I started doing the steps and have never looked back. Then when I read The Sugar Addicts Total Recovery Program and discovered that there was an on-line community, I was in heaven! After I had been on step 7 for awhile I decided to turn my attention to helping my children. I definitely noticed that my twins were sugar sensitive. They were just like me, overly emotional, sensitive, dramatic and absolutely adored sugar. It took me a little bit longer to figure it out with my oldest daughter, Alexa, and my youngest daughter, Grace. I think Grace has had the most dramatic turnaround. She used to get so enraged she would bare her teeth and growl at me. Now, she is just an angel. I really love helping other parents with their sugar sensitive kids. I can really empathize with parents who are new to the program and they come seeking help. I want to be able to help them create the life with their kids that I now have with mine, thanks to Kathleen. On the list we discuss ways to get our children to buy into the program which I must admit has been a hurdle for me but it's fun to get advice and hear about all the things the other parents are doing. We also share recipes and success stories. It's a great list and I feel honored to be a part of such a caring and wonderful group of parents. Come join us! ********************************************************************
**The Power of the Web ** Kathleen DesMaisons, Ph.D. Well, you will see up in the announcement section that I noted a special class to introduce you to our revised resource center. I want to take a little time to talk about what the resource center offers. When we decided to redo the website as a whole, we came to the resource center and gulped. It was as complex as the rest of the site - kind of a site nested within a site. Gretel and I decided to leave it until we could really think through how to design a revision that would work for all of us. I spent a good deal of time thinking about the *clumps*. I thought about how we look for information, how the data fits together, what do you want and need to know. It was like doing one of those really complex puzzles. I put each article on a 3 x 5 card and laid them all out on the floor. Then I had to keep the dogs out of the room while I sorted and sifted. Categories emerged and a new order started being clear. After many rounds of it, I had a good sense of what I wanted for you. Now, Gretel and I put our heads together to see how we could translate the vision to the site. She started trying some things out. We experimented and came to agreement about what would work. Then she and trusty Dreamweaver software took it and ran with it. What you see up on the site now is the product of that collaboration. I invite you to come to our opening reception to get a formal tour. But click here to go now and check it out. Poke around and find your old standbys. See if you find things you have not seen before. Give me feedback. Share what you think. Tell me what you would like to see added. This is your center. I know you will love it! ©Kathleen DesMaisons 2006. Here are the folks who are helping put the newsletter together: Gretel, the liaison for the recovery list and the webmaster puts it all together Naomi, liaison for step 4 gathers the recipes David, who runs the Radiant Recovery® Store talks about what new products we have.
