Hi {!firstname_fix}

Well, it has been a week of a lot of changes. I am going to comment on some of them in my article space, so make sure to scroll down for that.

I have a fun new option for the store. I pleaded with Geraint to let us offer his photos for sale. We have worked out a fun deal. Come see our new Radiant Gallery to see my special picks of his work. We added the sunset picture above so if you want a reminder of radiance you can have your very own copy.

We are getting all set for this year’s Radiant Ranch. We are filling up, so if you have been thinking about coming, please go ahead and register so we make sure to have space for you. When you call the hotel, please remember to tell them you are with Radiant Recovery so you can get space. Click here to register. Once you register, please come to the ranch list as instructed for questions and discussion about logistics.

Some folks have asked me what we do at Ranch. Basically, it is a combination of training in sugar sensitivity, learning more about the things that contribute to healing and having a wonderful time making connections with people who are like you. I don’t actually set the content of the semianr material until I see who is signed up. I like to gear the content to the attendees. We generally have a mixture of senior folks, middle folks, brand new people, men and women, fat and skinny people. Email me with questions.

These are the classes that will be starting this week:

Using Radiant Resources is our guided tour of the community. I am the tour guide and this is really fun. And there is no charge for this class.

Step 2 Journal: Introduction is one of our most popular classes. Come if you don’t know how or if you hate it or if you are rusty. You will be welcomed!

IBD - Week 2 is the continuation of the very interesting class on the biochemistry of gut issues.

Back to Basics 2 is the second phase of our *climbing out of the pit* sequence. If you have completed BtB1, come join us.

A number of you have asked me how the classes work. Check the class list page for more information on this. The classes are done online with one lesson each day. You do not have to be at your computer at any set time.

Please note that we have added the classes to the new schedule so you can see what is coming up. And go read the questions and answers before you write to me. The classes are done online with one lesson each day. You do not have to be at your computer at any set time. If you have trouble getting through the process, write the tech forum.

Please feel free to pass this week's newsletter on to your friends and family. Don't forget to let me know what you like and would like to see me cover.

Be sure to visit our Radiant Recovery® website and Community Forum regularly.

Warmly,
Kathleen

Imagine a life of being healed rather than swirling. Breakfast starts it. The steps will create it.

** Testimonial for the Week**

When I want a treat, I usually eat out. And I get steak or lobster...with a baked potato with all the fixings and a salad. Or I might grab one of my hamburger buns that are truly brown and get a great big juicy burger. Some places I will ask them to use my bun (they put it on the grill for a bit), and some places I just switch buns after the plate arrives.

**Recipe of the Week**

This is a recipe I invented. I love that you can bake it all in one dish.

Baked Tilapia, Broccoli and Potatoes

  • 4 Potatoes, use your favorite type
  • 2 T. olive oil
  • 4 Tilapia fillets
  • 16 oz. package of frozen broccoli florets
  • 2 T. mayonaise
  • 1 tsp. salt (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1-2 tsp. onion powder
  • paprika or cayenne, as needed
Preheat oven to 350. Scrub potatoes well and cut potatoes into chunks. Place into a 9 x 13 baking dish (I use disposable aluminum pans) and and toss with olive oil. Bake for 70 minutes. Take dish out of oven and place broccoli over the potatoes. Mix mayonaise and spices (except paprika) and spread over the tilapia. Place on top of the broccoli. Sprinkle with paprika or cayenne. Cover and bake for 40 minutes

**Your Last Diet: More Than What You Think**

Reading through all of the information on the home page is what convinced me to join YLD. I read everything and then bought all of the books. I am an avid reader and I just couldn't soak up enough information. I felt like I had finally discovered the answer that I had been searching for. The site is easy to follow and contains a wealth of information. It's a great refresher site when I feel like my steps are getting a little "mushy". It's awesome!

Last chat we spent processing some of the discussion from the forum about being fat. It was wonderful to talk in real time. What a crew you are!! I love working with you.

Come and join us. Click here if you are ready to change your life or just plain ole have fun. It is not too late to get into the classes if you come right now.

Thought I'd share that Alex blended up 6g of George Jr with chocolate almond milk and then she said it wasn't a good temperature. I told her we could cool it down with ice or heat it up. She liked the idea of hot chocolate, so we heated and she LOVED it. Hooray! Now, I need to go and find some more almond milk and she says she'll keep adding more George Jr until she gets up to the right amount. Thanks for all the ideas and support!

The kids are loving Junior. Even my daughter, Madison, thinks it is great! I have a special little stash for her. She likes to try the flavorings with it. Don’t forget we give you a 25% discount when you get 6 jars. Click here to read the ingredients.

If you haven't been to the store for a while, how about just coming over and browsing. You will be thrilled to see all the changes!

Please send questions and suggestions. I love hearing from you and truly want to help you do your program better.

**A Transformation**
Kathleen DesMaisons, Ph.D.

Last week was hard for me. Not only did my dog go into surgery for tumor removals (they are benign), we also had a kind of firestorm that emerged on the forum in response to my posting my feelings about my weight. I shared that I had come to a deep realization that what I weigh is for *me*, not my culture, not the media, not anyone else to decide.

Some people felt that this was a total betrayal of the promises of the program. If I was not bent on being a size 12, I was somehow letting them down. If the leader of the community was saying she liked, really liked where she was and felt no obessive need to lose more weight, it meant that I was being irresponsible. Now, the messages and tone were a little more hostile and rude than that, LOL, but that was the gist.

I answered the charges gracefully, but inside was rocked. I was in a vulnerable place to begin with because I really, really love my dogs and was worried about losing Josie. I could not understand the anger and rage. But the grace and kindness of this community is unassailable. You all helped me see that this was about fear. I was afraid for Josie and some folks who are terrifed of their fat are afraid that what I do with my body means something for what they do.

I often talk about reframing hard things. This morning, I sent a post off to the YLD list about the firestorm. This is what I wrote:

Here is where a reframe will help.

When we stand up and stand with light, darkness rumbles. Our community has been sitting with the light. And this list knows this on a literal level. When we sit with light, it surrounds us and fills us. So when we stand with what we believe, we carry that with us.

I am standing differently. When I said, *I will not be defined by how much I weigh*, I challenged a HUGE fear pattern. Fear is how the darkness controls us. When we challenge it, it rumbles to create discord and anger. That is all that happened. Nothing more.

It is a gift, that is the reframe. Wherever we got upset will lead us to the places of shame and wounding. And...the gift is that means shining the light on them. And as we do that we are stronger and more healed.

Hope that makes sense.

I have been thinking about this a lot...follow the pain, the shame, the fear, the wounding and meet it with compassion and healing. This is what we do. This is what the steps are about. This is what I am about. So today, I feel very blessed.

Thank you all for your support and your challenge.
