I completely agree with the points made here about the use of the hand being really important to connect the mind and body etc.
HOWEVER, I love google docs and what got me back into food journaling was knowing i had an easy-to-use google form set up that when I wasn't feeling up to writing a lot I could just tick some boxes and fill out some brief text fields (for my meals and snacks) and hit submit.
It motivated me to get regular with it because I wanted to see the data that google charts will then neatly put into bar graphs (Ooooo bar charts!). The logic of my mind was that if I didn't submit data every day the bar charts wouldn't be as pretty/accurate. It lets you do checkboxes, radio buttons, text fields, ratings scales etc. I even applied a "theme" to mine so it looks like an elegant invitation LOL. I keep a page for it in the browser on my phone so I can fill it in anywhere. If I were so minded I think you can make a shortcut "dummy" app icon that would take you directly to the form url.
Now that I'm doing a pretty good job, 40 consecutive entries and counting, I'm considering changing to a handwritten journal, which I think will work better for the hour by hour accounting that it going to be necessary if I'm going to figure out my current weirdness
So I guess my point is - if you love technology and that love might help keep you motivated, employ it! If it helps keep you steady it might allow your body to later communicate to you if the hand needs to get involved.
