Re: My First "Real" Shake
In Response To: Re: My First "Real" Shake ()

Yes, I just understood that from a post Kathleen sent me yesterday.
She recommended checking a certain company here in Israel that
makes almond butter, and on their site they say you can mix almond butter
with water to make almond milk.

I was so happy to hear that an easy solution was available!
Today I ran out and bought almond butter, and I just now mixed some with water,
along with whole-sesame tahini,
and put it in the frig.

Tomorrow I'll add cottage cheese,
or possibly white cheese - that's a very common cheese sold here
that is even denser than Greek yogurt.
It's smooth and spreadable, or can be eaten with a spoon.
It should thicken the shake very nicely.
It's great for protein and I have it all the time when I eat my usual egg breakfast.

Thanks for your shake recipe.
I will experiment till I come up with the right concoction for me :h11)
I'm a bit wary of eating soaked-but-not-cooked oats.......will have to see if my tummy takes to it.
Today, I had cooked oats in my shake......made it a bit mushy (don't have a working blender..)......so I'm still in the experimenting stage.

But it's very exciting.....i'm curious to see what I'll come up with.
Thanks again - your input is always helpful :h9)

: In that case, you could use water,
: and add almond butter to your
: shake.

: Also, you could use water and add
: cottage cheese and/or greek yogurt
: to thicken up the shake. I add
: them to mine - when I make shake
: without them, it seems so thin
: compared to what I am used to.

: Here's my recipe
: 1 cup almond milk
: 1/2 cup water
: orange fish oil
: 1/4 cup cottage cheese
: 1/4 cup greek yogurt
: a handful of kale (or some frozen
: spinach)
: 2 frozen strawberries
: a peach or about 1/2 - 3/4 cup frozen
: blueberries
: 3/4 cup rolled oats
: 1 scoop protein powder (that doesn't
: contain all the protein I need,
: the rest comes from the cottage
: cheese and greek yogurt)
