In that case, you could use water, and add almond butter to your shake.
Also, you could use water and add cottage cheese and/or greek yogurt to thicken up the shake. I add them to mine - when I make shake without them, it seems so thin compared to what I am used to.
Here's my recipe
1 cup almond milk
1/2 cup water
orange fish oil
1/4 cup cottage cheese
1/4 cup greek yogurt
a handful of kale (or some frozen spinach)
2 frozen strawberries
a peach or about 1/2 - 3/4 cup frozen blueberries
3/4 cup rolled oats
1 scoop protein powder (that doesn't contain all the protein I need, the rest comes from the cottage cheese and greek yogurt)
