Re: Getting started.

Hi Mary
Welcome. My suggestion for getting started is to just work on the 4 parts of breakfast, or, if you are not used to eating breakfast, you can work on whatever part of breakfast is easiest for you. I was already eating within an hour of getting up, every day, so I worked on the other 2 parts: enough protein for your body weight, and a complex carb.

When you figure out how much protein to eat, remember, no food is made of pure protein. So, if you need 25 grams of protein, that doesn't mean you weigh out 25 grams of meat. Meat has about 7 grams of protein per ounce. So does cheese. Large eggs have 6 grams of protein. For most foods, the nutrition label will tell you the serving size and how much protein it contains.

Do you know how to figure out how much protein you need for breakfast? Have you figured out what you will try for breakfast? I don't remember what I started out with (it's a long time ago) but these days I usually have a protein shake with rolled oats, and sometimes I have an omelette with toast on the weekend.
