Hi all, I just wanted to say hello and thank you. I'm trying to get back on the program after a long hiatus and reading the stories and advice here is tremendously helpful and inspiring.
10 years ago I found Potatoes Not Prozac at my local library and doing the steps brought me back to an enhanced sense of self that I'd barely ever known before.
Since then I've stuck with some of the pieces... at least some of the time. Breakfast is the easiest for me, and browns, greens and proteins have remained features of my diet. But the journal, the potato and the more conscious observation of the connections between how I'm eating and what I'm feeling have all fallen by the wayside. The whites crept back in too, the way they can if you let them.
That has not gone so well lately. After 13 months characterized by intense insomnia, depression, erratic digestion issues and wildly unpredictable energy levels I'm trying to get back to journaling, potato-ing and mostly avoiding whites.
Partly because I "did" the program before and partly because feeling scattered is a big feature of where I'm at right now I'm finding it hard to harness that "beginner's mind" that I know would help: to take it step by step, which I see as sound advice in a lot of the posts here. I also get confused and overwhelmed when I eat out, which I do many times each week and which I can limit somewhat but realistically probably only down to several times a week.
So this message is to say Hello! and to say Thank you! to all the posters who's advice and insight I've already benefited from. And finally to ask those who've done the program "before" and then had to go back and catch that wild horse again for any tips they might have.
