Hi Sheelia
You can go as slowly as you need to with getting each step sorted out, and it's great that you have found some breakfast foods you like to eat rather than having nothing until later in the day. If I were in your situation with the struggling to eat, I think i would get used to eating something within an hour, and then gradually add enough protein to it, (and browns) bit by bit. That way, working on the within the hour bit, you still are achieving part of the step even if you aren't eating the right foods yet. That will hopefully give you some sense of achievement about being able to do at least part of it. Fruit Salad would be fine after the "other" breakfast, as, if you manage to eat some protein (and this will work better when you can manage to eat enough protein for your weight) the protein stops the sugar from having such negative effects.
Also, DON'T worry about the oatmeal/porridge containing sugar right now, there is no failure on this program, because we all have our own time scales of doing it all etc., and the further along the steps you get, your tastes will change, and you may decide further along that sweetened oatmeal tastes too sweet for you. So when you have got used to eating something within the hour, just eat what you need to eat for the program, working on the protein and browns and forget about whether they contain sugar, it will all work itself out on its own later, without you even trying, if you stick to the steps.
It's great that you have managed to find some foods you can eat earlier in the day now, I know how hard it can be to eat in the mornings. Eventually, our eating habits set a pattern, and one day you will reach a point where you are getting up in the morning and the first thing you are doing is getting breakfast ready. I never thought that would happen to me, but now, as soon as I get up, I'm downstairs to the kitchen and putting a potato in the microwave. :)
Great Start!!!
Love
Jane

: I'm feeling a little overwhelmed by
: the program and all the
: what-ifs...how will i get to step
: 7, will I ever? etc etc...so okay,
: i'm going to just think and worry
: about step 1.
: Now, do all four parts of step 1 have
: to be done all at once? or do I
: spend time getting each one of
: these steps down as well?
: I found also I really like oats /
: porridge, is this a good
: breakfast? I notice many instant
: oatmeals are full of sugar, with
: the 'fruit' flavours. I'm trying
: to stick to plain oats, is it okay
: to add natural sweetener like a
: little jam or agave nectar to it?
: And how would one add a protein
: source to a bowl of cereal or
: oatmeal...would soy milk or almond
: milk be good?
: Thanks so much you guys =)
