Re: medication timing
In Response To: medication timing ()

: Hello friends,

: Oh my (smile). I feel lonely and
: done-to! Biochemical, all...

: I was advised to take a med on an
: empty stomach, so to fit it into
: my schedule with all my other
: meds, the nurse and I problem
: solved and we are trying, me
: taking it by setting my alarm one
: hour before my waking time and
: swallowing it with water. Then I
: am intended to go back to sleep,
: then wake and have breakfast 'at
: least an hour' from swallowing the
: pills. Then 20 mins after eating,
: take my other chemo pills.

: Wel, it is not making me a happy
: camper! I wake, take my pills with
: water and then I get up and make
: breakfast.. and have to wait the
: rest of the hour before I can eat
: (or drink it, in the case of
: shake).

: I think feeling 'poor me' is the most
: annoying part of it all, because
: suddenly I am analysing everything
: people say to me and wondering if
: they think I am an idiot or stupid
: or something, lol, whereas other
: times I wouldn't give things a
: second thought. It is driving me a
: little batty, to tell the truth.
: :P

: I'm also not very good at making
: decisions, in this state, so I
: feel hobbled in trying to find a
: solution to my seemingly simple
: problem, especially since I had
: help to try to plan all the
: medications timing to start with!

: Erp. Well, I will go eat lunch and
: feel better.

: Then I will call the nurse back and
: see if there is another acceptable
: time when my stomach is suitably
: empty and far enough away from my
: other meds to be safe...

: Pleasantly,
: -Lea (snoozey)

Hi Lea :h24)

It is so hard to coordinate multiple medications that have to spaced either away from each other or away from when you eat. :s7( Plus you have the added complication of being on chemo drugs that I have heard give one "chemo" brain which is akin to "mommy" brain i.e. it is hard to remember things or figure out things. :h26)

I am not on chemo drugs, but I have medications that have to be spaced like yours. I struggle with this also. I don't know if you can do this or not, but is it acceptable to take that pill before you go to bed? How many hours do you have to wait after eating? I am going to start taking my thyroid medication at night I think and see if that works out. I really hate setting my alarm early and getting up to take a pill that gives me heartburn. It kinda ruins a good night's sleep. :s9(

Some people complain of fish burps and nausea with some fish oil products. :s10( I have never had that problem with the Nordic naturals I buy from the RR store. It might also be a matter of timing i.e. maybe they would make you less nauseous earlier in the day.

Good idea to call the nurse and brainstorm some new solutions. :h2) It sounds like she has been helpful to you and I am glad of that. :h11)

How is your food going? I will be interested to know what you work out with the nurse and all.
