Re: Trying this for the 2nd time

Hi Jane, you totally understand me :h11) I'm glad that some of my 'issues' or challenges right now resonated with your own prior experiences. It's great to be understood, in general I'm amazed how people here really get it! And get what I'm frustrated with or feeling.

Yea, the idea of eating anything in the morning...still makes me feel 'uuuuugh....' but I hate crashing in the afternoon on sugar, and end up eating junk or just a lot of like...white sugar/flour, like breads or cakes, things that just don't make me feel well afterwards...both mentally and physically. I found that a lot of flour and wheat creates 'brain fog' in me...like even cereal bars, or ice cream, can make me feel a kind of heaviness or inability to think clearly if that makes sense.

I've posed this question to others on here too, but I'd like to get various feedback on it - did you ever struggle with eating too fast? Was it only on sugar or did it happen with other things? I'm finding that maybe since, at night that's when I have actual or good appetite...no matter what I eat (sugar or non-sugary) I can't seem to eat slowly, and then I end up feeling bloated and just kind of guilt with myself...I guess it happens a lot because I eat alone and this is probably a learnt habit over the years, due to the sugar cravings.

I'm so inspired - that you don't even need the Fanta anymore, and just the aroma is enough to satisfy you! I hope I can get to this point one day...when I won't NEED my sweetened coffees/teas, when my food can be just food- simple nourishment, without all the cravings and worries and fears and all the complicated things!

So...for now, should I just try to cut back on coffee/tea, or quit completely?

: Hi Sheelia

: I agree with Allison on the fact that
: you need to be able to get an
: appetite first in the morning, and
: then when you have got that, it
: will be easier to add things in to
: get the right amount of protein
: that you need.

: Maybe go with the cream cheese if you
: like it, it won't have a lot of
: protein but it's totally better
: than having none at all. Do you
: like Cottage Cheese? That is quite
: high in protein, but don't get the
: low fat one, as fat is important
: here to make us feel satisfied by
: what we are eating.

: A lot of people have to baby step
: their steps, and breakfast can be
: especially hard, I used to gag in
: the mornings at the thought of
: food, and really struggled to eat
: it for a while.

: The sugary drinks thing.....that was
: also a major thing for me, I get
: the sugary coffee and cream thing
: that you mean, I was the same and
: then as soon as I had that I would
: be looking for other sweet foods,
: it really seemed like there was
: never going to be an end to it,
: just a constant eating and
: drinking thing. The hardest thing
: in the end for me to give up was
: Orange flavour Fanta. I have
: always had a love affair with
: anything to do with oranges, and
: it is still my favourite scent on
: the whole planet, I can smell
: oranges from miles away, it seems,
: lol, but now I can just enjoy the
: smell (it makes me have a calm
: peaceful feeling to smell them)
: and I don't crave them at all. I
: even get orange scented washing up
: liquid for my dishes!

: Don't panic about the sugar, it
: really does go away if you focus
: on the step you are on, and I know
: this sounds impossible when you
: are in that round and round frame
: of mind, thinking you will never
: be able to stop, but seriously, it
: just happens all on it's own. So
: just try to eat something with
: some amount of protein, and like
: Allison said, if you can eat
: something with protein in on some
: sort of wholewheat bread rather
: than have the brown bit of your
: breakfast seperately, it won't
: seem as though there is so much
: food to plough through when you
: don't have the appetite. take as
: long as you need building it all
: up, just make sure you have some
: protein and some brown at the same
: time.

: I know how it can make you panic
: about never getting off sugar, you
: feel helpless/hopeless, but a lot
: of us here felt exactly the way
: you do, and believe me, we don't
: any more, not even a little bit,
: and we don't want sugars at all
: anymore. I detoxed in March 2009.

: Love
