Thank you so much Allison! This is really encouraging. I love that you emphasize this point: it's all about one thing at a time, and right now that one thing should be breakfast...is it good to look at this entire 'recovery' in baby steps? i tend to feel like i must do it all at once...and I make all these 'goals' for myself, only to make mistakes and fail with everything!
I tend to eat and eat more snacks also, late at night, which leaves me not feeling hunger in the morning when I wake up. Do you recommend trying to stop eating at a certain time, early enough...maybe work up to it? for example, sometimes I find myself eating something at 11 pm, so of course naturally I don't feel hunger early next morning. I'm thinking of setting a limit for example...nothing after 8 or 9 pm, except juice or water?
For my work I need to be up by 7:30 am. So that gives me a good 8 hours at least of digestion and rest while I'm trying to get some sleep.
Finally, do you have any suggestions on how to slow down my eating? I tend to be a fast eater maybe because I eat alone most of the time. I think this is a habit, or maybe I'm just embarassed by my sugar cravings to eat around others...not sure how to break it. Even then, I can't always depend on being around others to eat...so even by myself, do you think there are some ways I can ensure to eat slower?
Thanks again Allison! Sounds like you've been on this recovery for a long time and you met with lots of success. That inspires me a lot. =)
: Don't worry about the sugar now. Step
: 1 isn't about sugar at all. All it
: is about is eating breakfast.
: I've woken up hungry every day of my
: life that I can remember, but
: many, many people have the same
: problem as you when they start the
: program. Then they start eating
: breakfast, and one day, they start
: waking up with an appetite.
: So, what could you eat that has a
: little protein? Since you like
: cream cheese, maybe you could have
: a multigrain bagel with cream
: cheese. And you can slowly work
: toward the appropriate sized
: breakfast and amount of protein.
: The first thing for you is just
: getting used to eating something
: when you get up. Then, don't worry
: about what happens for the rest of
: the day. That comes later in the
: steps. And we add good things in
: before we take anything out.
: You can do this!
