Hi Marcia
Every once in a while, I have to fast for some medical procedure or test. What I've done is to find out exactly how many hours I need to fast, then if possible, eat something before I go to bed in addition to my regular meals. Then, I bring food with me to eat as soon as the procedure or test is over. And I make allowances for the fact that I may not feel well or may have some emotional upheaval as a result. Over the next 4 days, if I feel extra hungry or emotional, I remind myself that it's because of the blood sugar crash from fasting, and that makes it easier to ride it out. But the longer I do the program, the less effect something like this has because everything else is steady.
I hope your procedure is successful and brings you relief.

: Thursday morning I'm scheduled to
: have an epidural injection for my
: spinal stenosis pain. This
: requires me to eat nothing for at
: least 8 hours prior to the shot
: (due to use of light sedation).
: And this means skipping breakfast
: - which leaves me kind of
: uncomfortable.
: I suppose one missed breakfast won't
: totally mess up my blood sugar.
: There's a restaurant near the
: facility where we usually stop
: after these procedures for a meal
: - which will be lunch by then!
: But this break in my new routine
: leaves me feeling "all shook
: up". Any advice or
: suggestions would be welcome.
