Re: Trying this for the 2nd time

Hi Sheelia

I agree with Allison on the fact that you need to be able to get an appetite first in the morning, and then when you have got that, it will be easier to add things in to get the right amount of protein that you need.

Maybe go with the cream cheese if you like it, it won't have a lot of protein but it's totally better than having none at all. Do you like Cottage Cheese? That is quite high in protein, but don't get the low fat one, as fat is important here to make us feel satisfied by what we are eating.

A lot of people have to baby step their steps, and breakfast can be especially hard, I used to gag in the mornings at the thought of food, and really struggled to eat it for a while.

The sugary drinks thing.....that was also a major thing for me, I get the sugary coffee and cream thing that you mean, I was the same and then as soon as I had that I would be looking for other sweet foods, it really seemed like there was never going to be an end to it, just a constant eating and drinking thing. The hardest thing in the end for me to give up was Orange flavour Fanta. I have always had a love affair with anything to do with oranges, and it is still my favourite scent on the whole planet, I can smell oranges from miles away, it seems, lol, but now I can just enjoy the smell (it makes me have a calm peaceful feeling to smell them) and I don't crave them at all. I even get orange scented washing up liquid for my dishes!

Don't panic about the sugar, it really does go away if you focus on the step you are on, and I know this sounds impossible when you are in that round and round frame of mind, thinking you will never be able to stop, but seriously, it just happens all on it's own. So just try to eat something with some amount of protein, and like Allison said, if you can eat something with protein in on some sort of wholewheat bread rather than have the brown bit of your breakfast seperately, it won't seem as though there is so much food to plough through when you don't have the appetite. take as long as you need building it all up, just make sure you have some protein and some brown at the same time.

I know how it can make you panic about never getting off sugar, you feel helpless/hopeless, but a lot of us here felt exactly the way you do, and believe me, we don't any more, not even a little bit, and we don't want sugars at all anymore. I detoxed in March 2009.

: Thank you for this Jeff. It means a
: lot to me because I honestly don't
: know how to imagine a life without
: sugar even...the thought alone
: seems just impossible. I am
: definitely a binge - sugar
: consumer, and it's strange that
: most of my triggers are with
: drinks. I love sweetened
: coffee/tea drinks and I don't know
: how to stop this...maybe stop
: coffee and tea completely? But I
: don't know what on earth I'd
: replace it with. just plain water
: and even plain juices
: unfortunately don't seem
: satisfying enough...I know that
: sounds just plain silly and I'm
: giving bad excuses.

: How long have you been doing this
: program?
