Laureen,
Have you ever tried have whole grains or legumes instead of bread, crackers and pasta? I'm not sure of the reason, but whole grains seem to hold me better...brown rice, quinoa, oatmeal, lentils, pintos, etc. A suggestion would be to add another serving of brown along with your George's shake, and see if that makes a difference. What kinds of things are you adding to shake?
Also, you don't give amounts, so it is hard to get an idea if you are eating enough. 2 Tacos would not be enough food for me, and so waking up at 2 would make sense....just not enough food for the night. It also looks like you eat pretty early...5 - 5:30. I would probably need to add an extra protein / complex carb snack before bed, to make it through the night.

: I am not exercising at this point
: however I have a 2-year old and a
: 5-year old that keep me running
: all day! And they are the reason
: for the shake in the middle of the
: night. I recently started having a
: shake whenever I am up with them
: for a half hour or more in the
: night. However it often takes more
: than a half hour to get them back
: to sleep so I don't usually get to
: that shake before my blood sugar
: starts dropping. I have been
: focusing on timings for step three
: but am also having trouble keeping
: my wake-up and breakfast times
: consistent as my kids wake up
: anywhere between 5:30 and 7:30.
: I am aware that my blood sugar is
: causing the constant crashes but
: what surprised me is that I had
: days of productivity even though I
: was feeling awful and cranky. I
: had thought the reason I had no
: energy and focus was because I
: couldn't get my blood sugar
: stabilized. But that doesn't seem
: to be the case so what is causing
: that cycle? What do I do about my
: energy level at this point? My
: family needs me. I think my kids
: don't sleep well because their mom
: can't keep her act together and
: they don't have the consistency
: they need. I can't get my food
: right without some consistent
: sleep. It feels like a catch 22.
: I'm sure the solutions are clear to
: someone with a clear head! So even
: though I don't like putting myself
: out there, I really need help and
: am grateful for it. Thank you.
: Desperately yours,
: Laureen
