The fair on the river sounds lovely.
My family name comes from Nottingham and before that from Normandy, as I understand.

: Hi Char
: I have never really been into
: anything sporty....never had the
: confidence when I was younger, and
: don't have the "body
: smarts" now but I love to
: walk, and can do that for hours.
: Derby is 18 miles from Nottingham
: (Robin Hood Country) and is in
: Derbyshire (the Peak District is
: here, where we have mountains
: etc., but that is quite a way off
: for me,though I can get there
: fairly inexpensively on two
: buses.) You might want to look up
: Matlock, too, which is in the Peak
: District, they have illuminations
: there from the end of August to
: the end of October, on the river,
: boats completely covered in
: different coloured light bulbs
: with different themes, similar to
: the "light parades" you
: have in Disneyland in the States,
: but on a tiny scale compared to
: that. It's very pretty and they
: have fairground rides, fireworks
: and candy floss stalls, etc., they
: might have some photographs of
: past illuminations there about
: this time, to advertise for people
: to go to this years. Lots of
: little gift shops and things there
: too, and of course, the good old
: Fish & Chip shops!
: It's amazing to think we can
: "talk" to people from
: different countries so easily. The
: internet is an amazing thing in so
: many ways.
: Love you
: Jane
: xx
