Hi Carolyn.
I used to live in New England, where it is often grey. Then I would come to New Mexico for ranch, and hardly sleep all week. I think it was partly a big serotonin spike. Now that I live in New Mexico, I rarely even need or want the potato - when I lived in New England I had it faithfully every night and enjoyed it, and when I moved here, my body stopped wanting it.
I would think after a sudden, unacustomed exposure to a lot of sun, it might be a good idea to reduce the amount of potato. I know I really feel the effect of sun on my serotonin levels - the only time I really feel low serotonin is after a few days of grey weather.

: this is a really interesting thread
: as i hadn't realised a spike could
: be due to having a very low amount
: or already having enough.
: I am getting funny effects from it
: too right now so also need to work
: it out. I had a second related
: question to this though. If you
: normally have a low level of
: sunlight in your day (ie live in a
: non sunny country like Scotland
: ) and then unusually spend a
: large part of the day outside in
: blazing sunshine would you reduce
: the amount of potato that night. I
: am definitely getting spikes from
: the potato and not feeling right
: but I particularly noticed it a
: couple of nights ago after
: spending a day outside in sunshine
: thanks
