i've been silent the last week and a half or so, enjoying the posts and extended conversations. picked up some good ideas and support i didn't realize i needed, so thanks to all of you.
i started eating a potato in the evening about a week ago. i started out with those wonderful ping-pong ball-sized potatoes you can find at the farmers market, one per evening. i have been rewarded since night one with glorious, technicolor dreams with wonderfully complex and entertaining plots. however, i'm waking up about an hour earlier than is usual for me (i typically wake at 5:00 every morning without needing an alarm clock). i'm tired, i can feel the lack of sleep throughout the day, but where that would have set off a binge for me on my way to work, i find even the idea of it very unappealing, a real change! i understand now that that's the effect of the increased serotonin generated by the potato. so that's all great, but i'd love to get that hour of sleep back. is it typical to sleep fewer hours initially once one starts having an evening potato? i tried eating 2 small ones to see if that would make a difference, but i still woke early. has anyone experienced this, and does your body eventually adjust by going back to your usual number of hours of sleep? fyi, i've tried both red and yukon golds as well as sweet potatoes, with the same result--sweet dreams but not enough sleep.
thank you!
