Hi Cam,
I will respond right in your post here....
: I'm having 4 eggs with pepper jack
: cheese. I was using whole wheat
: tortillas but I found out recently
: about gluten intolerance. So I had
: tomatoes this morning.
I use some great brown rice tortilla. Having a complex carb with breakfast is very, very important.
: I understand taking the steps slowly.
I suspect you don't.
: I haven’t had any
: "sugary" products since
: I started. No cookies, cake,
: sweets, candies, simple carbs etc
: etc. My plan was to approach it
: head on, but I know you advise
: against that in the book.
Yep. I sure do. It puts your brain in shock. And the other thing is that each step is designed to address the process of addiction. Step one is actually about learning to follow directions and to trust that someone other than you might know something. One of the things we do as addicts is think we are so special that no one else could possible understand us.
The main
: reason I wanted to ramp up so fast
: is that I have downtime now. A
: time to fully focus on the
: program.
I understand. It is a great motivation. But ramping up fast does not make the program better. It actually sabotages it.
I don't want to start
: ingesting sugars again because I'm
: afraid I'll just start going
: backwards with my progress.
You don't have to start having sugars again. But how about coming to step one with a beginner's mind and learning how to do it. And this will also connect you to what is embedded in the steps.
I've
: been on the diet for three weeks
: now. I was in really bad shape
: before I found this book. I was
: very depressed, and having issues
: coping with life. I had been
: through countless therapy as a kid
: because of drug abuse, and I got
: prescribed plenty of different
: medications in the past.
Even more reason why this program can profoundly heal your brain.
I'm sure
: my body chemistry is way out of
: whack. Things are beginning to
: look brighter now. It's amazing
: how much food can impact your
: body.
Yes, I am sure it is. And doing the steps slowly and in order will help a lot.
: My only real problem this far is I
: seem to be having blood sugar
: spikes after eating a meal. They
: last about 30-40 mins and then
: they disappear.
how about just working on breakfast.
It happens
: sometimes with different meals but
: not all the time. I am assuming
: this is a natural transition
: phase? Or has me cutting out a lot
: of sugars instantly made this
: happen.
Your body is in shock. Slowing down will help you. Work on just breakfast.
: All i can say is that I have begun to
: loathe that feeling of being tired
: and filled with brain fog. I can’t
: get much done feeling that way.
Eat some fruit, make sure you are getting lots of healthy carbs and work on breakfast.
