: Hi Everyone,
: This is my second post today - hope
: that's ok. I have another
: question:
: I am, and have been on some type of
: SSRI (now Citalopram, 5mgs) for
: many years. Before it was Zoloft.
: I am now 5 years abstinent from
: alcohol, doing well in that
: regard, and on Step 1of this
: program which I've been doing for
: about 4 months. I've been
: backsliding and 'losing steam' and
: momentum, which is why I'm writing
: today and trying to get 'more
: involved', and find the support
: and insight I think I may need.
: I am wondering, at what point would
: it be conceivable to go off any
: sort of anti-depressant? It's been
: about 14 years that I've taken
: them, and for the times when I
: went off, within a few months I
: had a horrendous depression that
: re-emerged after 3 or 4 months of
: going off the drug. These episodes
: are terrifying, and I thought I
: might have to be on meds forever.
: Anybody out there have any
: experience with this? I'd
: appreciate any feedback.
: Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Annette,
a lot of people go off depression meds after they have been on step 7 for 6 months.
No one has gotten horrendous depression. Doing the food balances your brain. If you do the steps, you will begin to see what your natural state is and you will be able to discern what is the best option.
