Hi Jeff,
I Have been thinking about this post for a while. I generally do not post posts that
are about *weight*...and I think I was not paying attention when I put this one up.
I do understand your fear about gaining weight. But I want to say something about
the use of the term *blubber.*
This is a very, very denigrating word. And I work really hard to make sure that the
forum is free from abusive language or self bashing.
The use of this word would fall under both categories... I know it reflects your fear and disgust about body weight. But it also reflects a cultural message that fat is horrible..
There are a very large number of us who carry more weight that some would deem *acceptable*. We live in a world awash with severe and profound judgment about our bodies. Saying that an overweight person is carrying *blubber* with that level of negative connotation is kinda like referring to a black man as a nigger.
I know that this was not you intention, and I know it is a reflection of how you feel about yourself and your feel. And I am deeply attuned and sensitive to that because I have been where you are.
If you stick with the program that fear will quiet.
But think about it.
