Alicia;
Hi I'm Denise and on step 4. At first I did tell all my friends and family hoping they would understand and anyone who would listen. Fortunately, my husband gets it so life at home is easier when preparing meals.
Even last night when I declined going to the chocolate fountain I felt that I hurt someone's feelings because unknowingly it was a surprise for all the women for Mother's Day. But I can't give in to these temptations because I know what it will do to me. I did go to the fountain and had a strawberry (no chocolate) and then raved about how sweet it was.
One of my friends insists on announcing that I'm on a diet to everyone. Yes, even again last night when I chose not to have a piece of pecan pie cheesecake. I have tried to explain the life style change to her and reasons for it but she still just thinks I'm dieting and doesn't think the things I eat are very healthy (bacon for instance).
So all I am saying is that we all have to do what's best for us and we have each other for the understanding and support here at RR.
Keep posting,
Denise
: Great point Alicia. I think thats
: something we all encounter, and its
: tricky at first to know how to
: respond.
: These days , I dont explain much..
: gets too complicated I just
: say no, thanks, and if pressed, I
: dont eat sugar or white things,
: they affect me.
: my nearest and dearest don't
: 'understand', because they have
: not my biochemistry, but they see
: I am happy and so help me out a
: lot. Always on the lookout for a
: good lunch for me or making sure
: dinners on time
: I have given the web address for RR
: sometimes if people are really
: interested though.
: how long have you been doing steps ?
: I found step 1 and 3 particularly
: challenging but everyone here was
: so helpful, I discovered that
: sharing, listening and playing
: with it was really good for me!
