Re: what's wrong with 'fake' sugars?

Hi Kiki,

I was just as addicted, if not more so, to Diet Coke as I ever was to ice cream (my sugar of choice). Even without caffeine, the Diet Coke was a huge part of my day. My hands would shake as I popped open each can -- I couldn't wait to start drinking it.

I did a cold-turkey Diet Coke detox early on in the program (not the smartest thing I've ever done :s2( ), and it was way worse than going off sugar. Months later, I had one can, which led to three cases, and I got to go through the detox process again. That innocent-sounding "diet" stuff is powerful!

I'm convinced that fake sugars are worse than real sugar. The fake stuff makes me crave more and more. And besides, I got worried about pouring that chemical soup into my body, day after day for years.

My advice to you would be avoid, avoid. Use real sugar until you're ready not to.

: instead it is splenda, or the

: favourable as it would not evoke

: help with the cravings?
