Re: 12-Step Groups

Good to hear, yes I agree - the OA people seem to keep themselves on very boring, restrictive meals and no wonder we are all coming back and 'relapsing' I guess, what they call or the word they use for eating anything with sugar and feeling those out-of-control or panicky, impulsive cravings.

I've been doing yogurt unsweetened with fruit, or a yogurt shake.
I also really like cereal a lot and I'm not sure if that's an okay breakfast - I figure if it is low in sugar and high in other good nutrients, it would be okay? Like Fiber One or unsweet Shredded Wheat, add to this usually soy or coconut milk.

: Cold turkey is the hard way. And not
: the only way at all. And you can't
: ever eliminate all sugar. As you
: do the program, you learn what
: sugars or level of sugar cause
: problems for you. For instance, I
: can use regular mayonnaise, which
: has some sugar in it, and I can
: eat fruit. If sauces taste sweet,
: I avoid them. But this is stuff I
: discovered over time.

: The people I have know who do OA
: always seem to be very rigid about
: food, white knuckling every day.
: There is no joy in their food. And
: the people I know who do Radiant
: Recovery often find their food
: world expanding, not contracting.
: I eat a much wider variety of
: foods than I ever did when I was
: eating sugar. They become creative
: cooks. There is no white
: knuckling. They have recovery, not
: just abstinence.

: For now, all you need to think about
: is breakfast. Have you found a
: breakfast that works for you?
