Hi Mary,

It's nice to have you here!

Glad you are starting with breakfast. Shakes are easy, and a nice way to get protein in! Are you also having a complex carb?

This process does take some time, so do be gentle with yourself. Also, you might be interested in our online group for those recovering from alcohol and / or drugs. Since you are familiar with AA, this group might speak to your heart in a wonderful way. If you are interested, click on the *Make Connections* link, then the Online Groups link, and then the RadiantRecovery link.

: Hi everyone,
: This is my second attempt to hook up
: with some online support. I have
: been to OA, AA, NA, Alanon and
: Gamanon. I find that AA has the
: most "recovery" in my
: area. Rigid, abstinent people make
: me nervous at OA. They do not have
: what I want, and no, I am not
: ashamed that I cannot maintain
: "perfect" abstinence.
: (Besides, those rigid people look
: grumpy and my goal is to be happy,
: joyous and free.) My shame comes
: from not being able to stop once I
: start. Sometimes, I think I can
: eat 1-2 cookies at an AA meeting
: and then I miss the whole darn
: thing because I am thinking about
: how delicious those cookies were
: and would anyone notice if I got
: up and got s'more? I believe I
: would be thrilled to have a
: "sugar fix" once a day,
: that would be mad progress for me.
: I am on step one, day 2, protein
: shakes with 1/3 of my protein for
: the day, which is half my weight
: in grams. I have been in AA
: recovery for over 12 years, but
: this sugar thing is still kicking
: my a-- and I am trying to
: surrender --- again.
: Thanks for listening,
: Mary
