Re: 12-Step Groups

: I am so glad you get that too, and
: understand - we can quit alcohol
: and other drugs, but we need food
: (fortunately, or unfortunately??)
: for living!

Fortunately :h2) Food is not an enemy.

Really, so you think
: cold turkey is not the best way?

I know that cold turkey is not the way!

: Everyone at this meeting seems to
: insist it's the ONLY way, because
: even a little sugar will set them
: off to keep wanting more...

Well, if you go cold turkey, you put your brain in shock. And, yes, if your brain is in shock,
than having a little wil make you want more. However if you heal your brain first, then you don't have cravings, and you and not vulnerable like that. And it is really too bad that OA doesn't know the science of this.

and I'm
: still confused, how to completely
: avoid sugar. Is it even possible?

Right now, you don't even need to think of that.

: sugar is in everything is it not?
: Even fruits, vegetables like
: potatoes, corn, peas, even
: non-sweet things like plain yogort
: and milk have lactose!

Our idea is to simply start with breakfast and learn how to do that.

: I totally agree...I am tired of all
: these meal plans, diets, etc - I
: want to commit to just one and
: work on that one alone until I at
: least progress with IT...so yes,
: hope Radiant Recovery will be my
: best recovery diet ever!

: Is there any way to get a more
: detailed idea of a meal plan
: though?

:h11) No. Because we don't do meal plans. We just do step one - that would be breafast.
You can join the step one list and they can teach you about how to do that step.

not sure if we are able to
: share that on here...like an
: example meal plan for a day...to
: make sure I'm on the right track.

It is a different process. Do you have a copy of Potatoes Not Prozac. It would help to learn how it is different from OA.

Warmly,

kathleen

: Thanks Kath!
