Re: 12-Step Groups
In Response To: 12-Step Groups ()

: I don't know if anyone has tried
: these but I recently attended an
: OA meeting, I admit I can
: definitely go overboard and
: just..well, keep going lol when it
: comes to certain 'trigger' foods.

: ANyway, I went to this meeting
: modeled after the Alcoholics Anon.
: groups and I found it SO
: incredibly rewarding. Finally, a
: place where so many others GET
: it...the addictions, the feelings
: of high/low and your life and soul
: being sold away to this awful
: sugar that ends up consuming you
: whole!

: They talk about abstinence a lot in
: these groups and I feel guilt that
: I'm still not 'abstinent'...i
: mean, I do still have the sugar
: but then again I am still on Step
: 1 so its understandable. But a lot
: of them talk about 'quitting cold
: turkey' with the sugar and I just
: feel lots of shame that I can't do
: this. :s11(

Thank god you cannot do it :h11)
Abstinence is NOT recovery.

Working the 12 steps is a wonderful thing and can greatly enhance your
life. However food is not like alcohol. And going cold turkey is not the solution for healing.
If you want to go to OA, simply use RR as your *food plan*. :h2) :h2)
