making my own hummus?

Hi guys,

I would like to know if chick peas are good source of protein and in general, good for us on Radiant Recovery.

I find the store brands to have too much salt, garlic and other things for my liking. I have some cans of these garbanzo or chick peas, and I'd like to know how do I make a paste out of them? Can I make soups out of them too?

I was just going to 'mash' it all up with my hands lol but i think there's a better way. =)
