I am not sure about how the protein amounts are figured for children, but yours sounds on target. But I know that if I just ate protein and vegetables, I would be hungry and not have much energy. Have you tried things like quinoa, sweet potato or legumes as your complex carb? I used to heat up refried beans and put some cheese, salsa and a fried egg on top. (Now I have shake.) Sweet potato home fries are really tasty. Brown rice also works well for me.
