Joy dot: the red winged blackbirds showing off their red wing patches in the sun as I drove to work
Hi Kitty. Welcome!
Yes, on step 1 you eat whatever you want for the rest of the day. I would eat whatever you normally eat.
I've been doing this program for over 12 years. I had issues with depression, crazy thinking and blood sugar crashes. When I read about sugar sensitivity in Christianne Northrup's health newsletter, I thought it sounded like me, so I went to the bookstore and started reading Potatoes not Prozac. When I read the description of the symptoms of low beta endorphin, it described everything I hated about myself.
I occasionally eat dessert, but probably not what you think of as dessert. I will have berries and cream, or ricotta cheese with crushed almonds and unsweetened cocoa powder, or a cake made with whole grain flour and sweetened with banana. I don't eat sugar. It's just not worth it, even once in a while. (Besides, for most of us, once in a while leads to more and more.)
What are you thinking of for breakfast? I have a protein shake on weekdays and an omelett and whole grain toast on the weekends.
