Re: Once a month cravings

Hi Penny
Can you predict when the low times will be? If you know when they are coming, I'd try some extra BE raising activities, and eating a little bit more fat, and also more potato. That always helped me with PMS. I'm in my early 50's, and I've noticed that my hormones are more erratic now. If you are still having your period, it may be that the natural dip in serotonin and BE around that time is more extreme now. I couldn't tell from your post if you were or not. But it sounds as if you are having hormone cycles regardless.

: Hello everyone,

: Tired of being hammered once a month
: with incredibly powerful cravings.
: A bit of history - been doing the
: food since first finding PnP back
: in 2000 - a person used to be able
: to actually read ALL the posts!
: This June I will be 50 years old
: and since last fall, once a month
: I get really low, like a heavy
: blanket's been dropped on me and
: the cravings - no matter how
: faithfully I do the food,
: exercise, connect with friends -
: the cravings are the strongest
: I've ever felt! I've gained and
: lost the same five pounds several
: times and for the first time in my
: life, I don't know what to do to
: lose the weight and conquer the
: cravings. I do realize that I'm in
: the midst of menopause - although
: thankfully I don't get night
: sweats or hot flashes, I seem to
: have 'mood flashes'. I'm trying
: not to be desperate about losing
: 15 pounds, I'm just really tired
: of flip-flopping every month
: mood-wise and physically. It
: literally feels like I'm fighting
: my body to maintain some level of
: fitness - and I enjoy working out!
: The heavy blanket feeling does
: lift and for half the month I feel
: 'normal' - I have a positive
: outlook, I'm productive and able
: to get things done. Does anyone
: else experience this? I've always
: loved breakfast - never an issue
: there, I journal, love my potatoe
: - I'm always telling friends about
: the benefits of the potatoe.
: Kathleen - your research changed
: my life. My experience over the
: last months though, is leaving me
: scratching my head. Help!!
