Hi Denise
Yes our brains are very clever. we take something out that it needs, so it puts something else in that will give us the same effects, if we aren't ready to have taken that particular thing out. Diet drinks were always the last thing to go for me, Pepsi Max being the sweetest, even having just artificial sweeteners in rather than sugar. And orange flavour drinks, I have a massive fixation with oranges, for some reason, can't have them now i'm off sugar, in any form.
Back when I first went off sugars years ago, I used to go to a pub with my then husband and parents on a saturday night, and hadn't realised oranges were a problem for me. Used to drink pure orange juice all night, and so did my mum, got to thinking it was odd how the men were driving and they only had a little alcohol, but my mum and I were laughing like Hyena's in the back of the car, high as kites on Orange juice. Then the crashes started on wednesday nights, and I eventually worked out what was wrong. Still love the smell of oranges now, but my daughter doesn't particularly like them, so I don't get to have them in the house. It wouldn't make me want one if I could though.
Love
Jane
