Hi Ally
NEVER apologise for typing long posts, lol. I am another long poster and I love to read long posts. I think I always type long posts when I feel it is necessary, to make sure I am not misunderstood. Learnt over the years of being on sugar that I didn't always make myself clear, lol.
Now I probably make it too clear!! :)
Love

: Sure! I'll try to keep it brief --
: not my strong suit!
: I started seeing a naturopath late
: last year due to some digestive
: problems I was having
: post-gallbladder removal -- after
: we discussed my eating habits she
: recommended PNP. I ended up
: getting The Sugar Addict's Total
: Recovery Program since that's what
: was in stock.
: I made it through the list of
: potential symptoms of sugar
: addiction (of which I had ALL of
: them) before I had to put the book
: down and walk away. It was THAT
: true. Obviously I eventually went
: back to reading ;) And believing.
: So, I got started, trying not to
: "give a lot of energy"
: to the actual giving up of sugar.
: Step 1, no problem (although I was
: shocked at how often I
: didn't eat breakfast). Step
: 2, grinding halt. I stared at the
: blank book I had bought to journal
: every day until I went back to my
: naturopath with evidence of my
: "failure". The
: conversation went like this:
: Her: Do you forget?
: Me: I pretend to.
: Her: What are you afraid of?
: {insert long pause while I stare at
: her like a poleaxed cat}
: Me: Losing my best friend.
: I literally had no conception of what
: life would be like without sugar
: to help me cope, and I FOR SURE
: didn't want the quantitative
: evidence (my journal) that it was
: actually responsible for the NEED
: to cope. So on her recommendation
: I started to attend Overeaters
: Anonymous.
: After a couple of meetings I started
: to journal (not well, but hey),
: and worked my way through Steps
: 3-5 in the Recovery Program. March
: 21st I became abstinent and
: started Step 6 using the
: recommendations in the Recovery
: Program as my "plan of
: eating", removing both overt
: and covert sugars as that's what
: my OA Step 1 work called for.
: Nearly three weeks in now, and
: there's been challenges but also
: some big chunks of miraculous.
: So I finally got around to coming by
: the website, and here I am! And I
: promise (sort of) that most of my
: posts will be nowhere NEAR this
: long
