Good weekend

Joy dot: cuddling with DH before getting up

Saturday was very overcast. We spent a relaxing morning at home, then headed into town to work out at the gym (after a good lunch, of course). Then I got together with a friend who was in town for a visit. We went for a walk on a nature trail. Although there would have been more birds in better weather, we saw ducks on the river, and we saw a hermit thrush and a flicker. I always feel happier when I'm surrounded by trees. Then I played with golden retriever puppies. Then dinner with friends - brown rice pasta with meat sauce, and broccoli. I had packed a cheese stick and yam cake in case of late dinner (plus I tend to need more food after a good workout) but I didn't need it. Better safe than sorry!

Sunday was beautiful: sunny and spring like. The birds were very active at our feeders, and I heard lots of birds singing. We did some yard work, and I vacuumed the house. I also vacuumed the room my pet parrots are in. It was really messy, and felt so much better after I cleaned up the floor. We had omelets and toast for breakfast, and I had tuna croquettes and asparagus for lunch. We went to the store to get interesting salad greens for our lunches: kale, chinese cabbage and baby bok choy, along with some other groceries. And we rented a movie and watched it before dinner.

Dinner was pork, sweet potato and brussels sprouts (my husband wouldn't touch those with a 10 foot pole, but our 14 year old border collie decided she liked them.)

Unfortunately, I had trouble sleeping last night, so I woke up pretty tired, and then our youngest dog tried to jump on the bed while I was interacting with another of our dogs, and his head collided with my front teeth. (I think they are ok, but I had a dentist appt tomorrow anyway so I will have them checked out). It really hurt, plus I got a fat lip. Made a note of those two things on the top of today's journal page, so if I feel funky a few days from now, I can go back and see why.
