breakfast and exercise

Hi everyone,
I have been doing step 1 for a few weeks now. My question is about time. I exercise fairly often. I am used to exercising right when I get up for about a half hour on the elliptical at the gym. I get up most days at 7:00 and am home from the gym by 7:50 which is when I make breakfast. Sometimes by the time I eat it is 8:10, therefore not really within the hour. Am I being insane or is this within the time frame? Exercising after I eat is not really something I think is good because of digestion. I cannot wait 2 hours because of work. I cannot exercise at night- I hate to and work some nights. I also do yoga on 2 days a week which is no problem because classes start later.

Any thoughts?

I am trying to do steps one at a time but exercise is not something that I think I should stop.
