Hi Ann
When we are still eating sugars, it is hard to know what effects individual foods/drinks have on us, but when we are detoxed, and still getting little niggly effects, that is when we decide to get rid of the coffee. Caffeine for me was always really bad, if I had one cup of caffeinated coffee, I wouldn't be able to sleep until like 4 am or later. Very frustrating, and then of course set my sleep pattern all over the place and blood sugar etc. Of course, we never have to take anything out,but most people here have taken caffeine out. I for one found it to taste very bitter after I had given up sugar, and although decaffeinated coffee is not so bitter, it still affects me. I have recently been drinking peppermint tea and camomile tea, as I no longer have even decaffeinated tea or coffee, but just lately I have thought how they don't quite taste right. Despite there only being peppermint leaves in the peppermint tea, it tastes kind of salty and not clean like plain water.
Hope that helps
Love
Jane

: I am new to Step One, and so far I am
: really enjoying the breakfasts.
: They keep me feeling content, full
: and satisfied until lunch time. At
: first I was afraid to add the
: browns to my breakfasts because I
: was worried about gaining weight.
: But this morning I added browns
: (oatmeal) for the first time. My
: breakfast consisted of an egg
: salad (3 hard boiled eggs, celery,
: onion, a bit of olive oil, salt,
: pepper), and 1/2 cup of cooked
: oatmeal with a bit of unsweetened
: almond milk and cinnamon, and a
: cup of coffee. I used to drink
: several cups of coffee a day all
: day long but now am down to 2-3
: cups a day. The decrease sort of
: happened on its own since I began
: Step One, I just don't feel the
: urge to have more (a good thing!).
: I am curious to know how coffee
: impacts us sugar sensitives and
: why it is a good idea to
: eventually eliminate coffee
: entirely? Would like to learn more
: about this, thank you.
