How about not having candy, but maybe a piece of fruit - an apple, a banana, a pear...? That way, it will be much easier to wean yourself off. I still eat some fruit after meals and I even make a point of it when I have BE withdrawal symptoms. It helps, and yes, it is a little bit of a crutch, maybe, but putting myself through shock isn't healthy either...
I think your enthusiasm is great! You certainly don't have to lose any of the progress you made. It's all about the fine-tuning and letting your body catch up. It will and you will feel great.
