Re: How do I fuel for Indurance Sports?

Anita, the experts on this are over on the fitness list. To find it, click on Make Connections at the top of the page, then look for the link for Online Groups. The group is called radiantfitness.

I work out, although I don't do endurance sports, and I eat a protein and complex carb snack in the afternoon before my workout. But I don't do any sports where I would need to eat during my exercise.

I also tend to eat at the high end of the protein scale because of my activity level.

: Thanks JoEllen!
: I already have the breakfast part
: dialed - I eat plain steel cut
: oats with no sugar added protein
: powder almost every morning. I'm
: also pretty good at sticking to
: whole grains and having 80-90
: grams of protein throughout the
: day. The step I need to start with
: is keeping the food journal and
: then only eating 3 meals a day
: (I'll have to eat something with
: carbs before workouts and during
: workouts though - this is the part
: I'm concerned about eating sugars
: for).

: I'll do well with what I eat for a
: week or two, but then if I have
: candy or something on a normal day
: I'll just start having
: uncontrolable cravings every
: evening, which I eventually give
: into on a nightly basis and for
: the next week I'll eat crazy
: amounts of sugar every night till
: I feel so bad that I cant do my
: usual workouts and then I
: stop...its really a terrible cycle
: that I so, so, so want to stop
: going through.

: I notice that eating say, gummy worms
: mixed with electrolite chews on a
: 4-8hr indurance day doesnt start
: it - but if in the next few days
: I'm stressed out from work and
: there are still gummy worms around
: or whatever, I'll eat them, and
: then I'm done for! The nightly
: cravings kick in. :(

: Any help and advice on things to eat
: during the workouts would be
: helpful.
