Hi Anita,
You'll be absolutely delighted with how well you
can do your sports with this program. There's a
fitness list under Make Connections where lots
of athletes write about doing the steps and sports.
I'm a triathlete and eat protein shakes for breakfast
the day of events (and every other day, LOL),
sweet potato cakes and peanut butter sandwiches
during the bike riding, and veggie burger and fried
egg sandwiches afterwards. It becomes so easy.
And yes, you need more food if you work out.
But start with the first step-breakfast. You may need
more than the .5 amount of protein. What are you
having? Do you eat within an hour of getting up?
Do you include a complex carb?

: Hi!
: I just read Potatoes Not Prozac - and
: feel like I finally found my
: answer to my out of control sugar
: binging and yoyo sugar detox
: diets. Even the genetic
: explanation makes perfect sense(my
: father was an alcoholic and my mom
: lives on processed sugar and is
: very over weight).
: Here is the thing though - I do
: endurance sports, 30 mile trail
: runs, etc - things where you have
: to eat sugar (cliff shot blocks,
: gu, gummy worms). How do I fuel
: for these if I give up sugar!?!
: EVERYONE eats processed sugar
: during these sports or else you
: cant get through the day.
: I'm so, so, so excited to put what I
: learned to practice, but feel like
: the gus, shotblocks, and gummy
: candy I have to eat to fuel during
: sports and trainings will in the
: end derail giving up sugar and the
: next thing I know I’ll be back to
: hiding in my car, downing a pint
: of ice cream and 4 king size candy
: bars again.
: Also, on a less important note – do
: people add another meal after an
: intense workout? You kind of have
: to right? I mean for body recovery
: you need carbs/protein within an
: hour of an intense workout.
