Dodi, maybe you just aren't ready to totally detox from coffee yet. If you don't find your consumption creeping up again, I don't think there's anything wrong with just staying at 1 cup a day for a while while your body adjusts. That's probably what I would have done if all my attempts to cut down hadn't failed. Then when you are ready to tackle it again, you can slowly add more and more decaf into your morning cup.
I didn't even tackle coffee until I'd been on step 6 for 6 months, and I'd adjusted to all the food changes. I gradually mixed decaf into each cup, and it was pretty painless. I miss it more than sugar, but although I have small amounts of my husband's coffee from time to time, I haven't taken it up again, although I do have decaf sometimes.

: Hi all,
: Just an update on my caffeine
: weaning. I'm down to 1 cup of
: coffee as opposed to 5(!), so I
: feel really good with what I've
: done so far. However, in my 4-week
: plan, I was supposed to be
: completely off by now, but last
: week major PMS hit and I've got a
: looming deadline at work, so I
: just couldn't face giving up that
: last cup. Not sure if these are
: just excuses and fear, or if I'm
: just being smart about what my
: body/mind can handle. When it
: comes to this substance, I've been
: really good about justifying its
: use and fooling myself. Not sure
: that anyone has my answer, I'm
: just thinking out loud so to
: speak.
: I've added snacks back in like the
: article that Kathleen wrote
: suggested. My potato is quite
: large now, too - at least 4 oz.
: Adding more fish oil caps seemed
: to give me diarrhea (or maybe it
: was just detoxing each cup I gave
: up?) Any other suggestions of how
: to support myself as I face this
: final detox?
: Thanks,
: Dodi
