Re: Digestive enzymes: pros and cons?

Joy dot: a good night's sleep

The only consideration I know is that if you have any condition where you have any open sores in your stomach or intestines, you should not take one with protease. And you want one with amylase, lipase (and protease if you don't have the above issues). There are a lot out there with pineapple enzyme etc - those are not the ones you want. If it's just beans you have issues with, I think Beano is fine.

I have the ones Kathleen sells. I know she does lots of research before selecting a product.

: I have been using digestive enzymes -
: a general product from the local
: health food store that helps
: whenever i eat gassy foods like
: beans & lentils - it is
: wonderful and makes eating these
: browns very easy for me.

: I'd like to better understand how to
: choose which enzyme products are
: good. I see that the RR store
: carries 2 options. Are there any
: downsides to using enzymes? I
: started using enzymes on a
: word-of-mouth suggestion and would
: like to get more educated.
